Trains for Display only?

Hi... Are there any HQ scale or smaller trains that are meant for Display only?

I realize I can buy a normal running train and still just put it on my shelf for display but was wonder if any company makes any specific for Display (And thus maybe a little less expensive then a running trains)

Thanks!

If you are talking about static displays look for "dummy units". I know they are available for "O" scale, not sure about HO. By the way, you are in the wrong forum for that type of question.

There are certainly plastic kits that are intended for static display - and usually have far more detail than could safely be run on a layout. Revell make a HO guage plastic kit big boy for example.

There are almost certainly pre-built static display models too.

Airfix made 4 or 5, in 'OO' scale, have a look on eBay.

They were all British loco's though, they didn't think any others worth the bother. :hehe:

They're still made, but the patterns were transferred, along with Airfix's Ready-To-Run OO business, to Dapol.

The same line up of schools, battle of britain, blue circle presflo, gwr prairie, br standard 4mt, city of truro, drewry shunter and 9f that airfix made all the way back in the 1970s are all still available, although they've added DP1 to the lineup of static plastic kits.
