Train not stopping soon enough

Ok here's my problem, I have a main line setup which a passenger train has the right of way, another train is trying to enter onto the main line it stop's at the switch and waits for the passenger train to pass by, both trains are ran by the AI, which is what I want, but the waiting train seem to enter halfway into the switch and the passenger train drives threw the corner of the waiting train. Neither one derails, but as a visional view it looks strange.

Is there anyway of making the AI stop the waiting train back from the switch a little further?

The problem may have been already address, but I did a search and couldn't find what I was looking for.

Any help I thank You for.

stopping in time

Hi - another way to look at this is to go to trainzoptions and look for a line that looks like this:
-autopilotsignaldistance =XXX
You can change this value "XXX" to another distance (in metric or imperial) so that the driver of the train will react sooner to his brake. He should then pull up further away from the light/junction. You will need to alter the light distance from the junction and the stopping distance "XXX" until it works and lokks realistic enough. Save the file each time you make a change.
Hope this helps

It will also depend on when the lever and signal respond. sometime the computer may give the branch train clearance then at the last moment give it to the mainline so not allowing enough time to stop the branch train..

You won't 'find' -autopilotsignaldistance you will need to add it and the distance specified is always metric.

I think Stagecoach has it, but a little background will help. I suspect the junction is not signalled. In the absence of signals the AI will treat the lever as a signal. The approaching train has the junction (therefore a green signal) right up till the passenger train 'steals' the junction, in effect throwing a sudden red light at the first train.

The AI really wants to see Signal > 'Ordinary' Track Vertex > Junction Spline Vertex as it approaches a trailing junction. Even if the passenger train is 'stealing' the junction at the last moment the signal will have been red for some time irrespective of the lever position giving the first train plenty of time to stop...
