Trackmarks!

Hello!

Okay, I am aware this is pretty much a silly question but, oh well. I'm developing the first of what I hope will be the full five of the Leyawiin Subway (you can type Leyawiin U-Bahn in google and find images I guess, but it's a work in progress).

The question is that I have used a Metro North default station, which I have somewhat revamped (it was originally the South Plains one). Southwards it works wonders and AI trains stop at the end of the platform, letting all other traffic in. But the trains coming in northbound (on Track 2) all stop JUST SHORT of the platform, at the exact point where the rail is linked to the station.

I've heard vaguely about track marks... Can I use such a tool, place it at the correct end of my station platform, then tell AI trains to stop there and unload/load passengers?

i've having a real easy time with decorating, track laying etc. in general but I admit I'm baffled here. Guess I'm not ready to fully exploit the potential of AI traffic (then again, it's a subway/S-Bahn grade route)

I think Trackmarkers stop a train two 10m grids before the trackmarker (20m distant).

If excessive speed, or a steep gradient is involved, you might want to apply a series of gradually reducing numeraled speedboards to stop a train in time.
 
But of course, you can set the radius of the trackmark and the loco will stop right almost above it... The default 20 mts is too large for me; This radius setting also works in turnouts.
 
Also make sure you're issuing a load command for the northbound trains. I've made that mistake before and had trains stop at the end of the platform instead of loading and unloading passengers.

Allright.

I'm going to try having a train stop at the MN station trackmark (that I've placed myself) and load passengers, then stop at the next station (station basic for the tech side). Should I order the train to load passengers at every station or trackmark though? I'm gonna try this now anyhow and post/edit afterwards. Thank you :)

EDIT - It really works perfectly now. Trains stop at trackmarks (which is good cause I am now also able to direct trains onto Express / Local routes -- with dedicated tracks -- as well as to make them stop at different spots on the same platform depending on their consist), load and unload passengers, and work generally fine. Thank you :)

You should use the navigate or drive to commands with load commands at each station like this:

Drive to Somerville Station, Load. Drive to East Hanover Street, Load. Drive to... Load, etc.

There is no need to use a trackmark with these stations.

Yeah, just tried a basic schedule on a train - the northbound MN station will still stop my train at the very onset of the platform, so I've had to use the trackmark then. Otherwise, though, most stations work fine, but I'm keeping the trackmarks on the unfinished (for now) local/express 4-track tunnels. :=)

One thing better than trackmarks is, fake junctions, with the incomming BNSF50 Invisatrack, a incomming fake junction, converging switch, converging in from the rear.

ie: -----<==== train direction <---

(Not a deverging switch) which would be: ====>----- train direction <---

You set the switch so that it is fouling the mainline, and when an AI train encounters the red incomming junction, it stops.

You can label the incomming junction something like: "Wadsworth Switch Release" as throwing the switch, will release the mainline to thru traffic.

It could be that the station script has been set up with incorrect trigger settings for two way running. Ive had several stations do this and had to alter the script.
