Track Won't Delete

I have a short section of track that I am unable to delete, move the spline points or adjust the height.

I have tried the track eraser spline however all this does is convert it to a greyed out spline. If I connect any piece of track to it, it converts to whatever new track type I am using.

I have even tried deleting the baseboard but that just leaves the track section floating off the map.

Any suggestions how to get rid of this?

Its a twin section of default GBR single track splines with two sets of points if that's relevant. The ground elevation is 75m

Can you adjust the height of the piece of track? If you can then just lower it way down into the baseboard and forget about it. You just need to be careful when you are laying 'new' track in the vacinity that the spline points dont snap together with your buried track. You can do this by holding down the shift key as you go

You probably have an item of rolling stock of some kind near by. Track becomes dead in surveyor when there is something on it. Does it give the "UUU" sound loud beep thingy when you click on it?;)

It's a new route I haven't added any rolling stock yet.

New track I place in the vicinity is doing exactly the same thing though. It's fine if I just use straight double track but the problem seems to be arising if I add single tracks and/or points. Also the splines points of the stuck track are automatically turning yellow without me having set the heights (which I can't adjust anyway).

A few thoughts on why tracks cannot be deleted or manipulated.

You are trying to delete it in the wrong flyout. Most can only be changed when the track (F4) flyout is selected.

There could be a piece of rolling stock on the track, or on any connected piece of track, within two spline points.

The piece of track is attached to an object, like a station or coaling station, and is part of that asset so can only be deleted in the Objects fly out.

If all of that fails you could try, in the track flyout, to insert a spline point within the length of the “rogue” track and see if you can then delete each of the separate sections.

It might be a track that has morphed into a fixed track, try deleting under buildings.

Interesting idea. I think I've tried just deleting it as just about everything else except that (including road spline). Any track I connect to it will delete no problem but the problem stetch still remains.

I'm curious how the problem is arising though because for about at least 10 baseboards in either direction all I've done is add track and shape the terrain.

Only thing still strange though is why deleting baseboards leaves it behind.

Cheers John

You're right enough it had morphed into a building.

No idea how it could have done that but I've managed to delete it which got rid of the track then I was able to delete all the spline points in track mode.

Watch your "undo's," that usually does it or copying and pasting track objects. Shucks I have a portal stuck on my route that I can't get rid of. It's part of a merged baseboard from someone else's work. Before you do a un-do, do a save first and before a merge, check for industry objects that show up in a search but not in-game.

Also, Ian if you have little floating bits, you might have to add in a baseboard or two to get under them then delete them. I've been lucky and have been able to reach out from a nearby baseboard a lot of times, but that was luck on my part.

I recently had a similar situation with a roof spline. It somehow managed to attach itself to a station as if it were a track and then wouldn't let me delete it (or move or otherwise manipulate it). The object delete tool did the trick! A while back I had an undeletable length of road spline that only the object delete tool could get rid of. This seems to be a fairly common glitch in Trainz.

Yeah, I had a similar issue too with one of the 'MS' type platform splines that I used for a station in a route I originally made in 04 and imported into 2010 (the double-sided one). No matter what I tried, I couldn't move it with the 'move spline' too, add or remove spline points, or even delete it. Even more bizarrely, it seemed to have completely disappeared from the Scenery list. Yet it most definitely was installed, as it was lying there as if there was nothing wrong with it.

In desperation I checked my installed content in CMP, and found the problem. For some bizarre reason, the platform in question was no longer listed as a scenery spline, but was now showing up as a track spline, even though it had been a scenery spline in 04. After loading the route in 2010 again I checked the track list and sure enough, there was the platform listed, and the platform could be moved around and manipulated with no trouble with the 'Move Track' tool.

I have no idea how this platform ended up changing to a track spline, but at least I know now what to do in case I find another scenery item that just doesn't seem to be able to be manipulated or deleted.
