Okay so i watched this video on youtube of someones trainz layout and when his train was moving it was making a realistic sound, not too sure how to describe it. I railfan in real life and i hear the sound all the time but was not really ever sure exactly what it is, i am thinking its the track, but it sounds like a poping sound, like if you took maybe two metal clothes hangers and taped them together? idk but it happends in this video at 2:05, ihttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=V2KQEM4F4bc. Anyone know where this sound is for trainz? thanks,

www.jointedrail.com (I think). They have a freeware section full of lots of goodies, won't regret it! You might have to register on the site, not much trouble.. you can do it in seconds if you already have a facebook account.

Please post another video, I still can not hear a popping sound.

JR's sound comes as close to being there

i asked this guy but he never wrote me back, so i guess he did not wanna share it lol but i call it poping sound, best way i can describe it. it does it at random times in this video.Like at 2:12, 2:01, really all through out the video and not only does the engine do it but the freight cars make the sound too. i tried to find another real life video but i cant find one right now.

When a railcar, especially a loaded one, goes by, there are all kinds of wracket, from the physics going on.

From the grease plate that has graphite disc's inserted, that turn to a greasy powder, the truck frames grind and grunt, as well as shaking brake throw rods, and brake beams, as the truck friction plates travel up and down on the truck springs. The up and down motion, as well as the twisting and turning of trucks, makes a miriage of sounds that is a complete railcar orchestra of railcar sounds. Not to mention the bolster, knuckles and couplers, and the actual railcar body that acts like a tin can amplifier.

I have been around railcars for decades, and the hunting of flanges, screaming at the railhead, and the rail itself makes quite alot of noises.

i have never seen a track rail that bad, it moves like waves, was u able to hear the sound i am wanting in the video link i posted?

I have downloaded lots of stuff from JR but still no luck on the poping sound, idk what else to try.

Funny, whenever I put a JR car on the layout, it's sounds "infect" everything else on the route. I like the sounds, but when you have a welded line on the route running high speed, it doesn't sound right for that train to make the same racket as a cut of freight cars being switched...
