Track spacers

Does anyone know where I could get some track spacers other than on the download station? Recently the server has been full all hours of the day, and I can't continue with my route until I have the spacers.

If you want to space eg. two single tracks to make a double track, an easy way is to use what we in the UK call level crossings, which I believe in the States are grade crossings, You can use one appropriate to the track spacing for the country you are modelling (for me in the UK that's 3.5 metres, but wider elsewhere), lay your tracks to/between the crossings, then delete the crossings. I have done this, also using a very short length of fixed track attached to the crossings before deleting in order not to lose the alignment.

G'day Dylan6191995,

You should take a look at the 'goods on offer' from contributor andi06, who provides a number of different (what he calls) "Way Gauges", from his website...

...specifically on the Junction Kit pages (to which the above link will take you directly). Even though the download link is to the items as available from the Auran Download Station, the links he provides seem to be working as they should be with my TS 2010 installation. As I said, look through the selection of JK Way Gauges to choose the ones most suitable for your situation...

@ Jerker: DLS is working fine, I just don't have a first class ticket to download with.

@ ray: I made an attempt at that the other day actually, but the crossings won't snap to fixed or spline track: curves become impossible. I have worked out a way to do it today though!

Anyone know the "average" distance between track centers for U.S. railways? My options are 4m and 5m. 5m is a bit too wide for my tastes, so I suppose I really would just like to know if 4m track spacing is used in the U.S.
