Track on top of a dam?

In building a route I've got an area I want to wall off as a lake with a dam. The built in dam is rather tall so I adjusted the height of the start and end verticies to make the height more in line with the terrain. So far so good.

When I go to lay track, however, it seems to ignore the dam and stick to the underlying terrain. Is there a way to lay track on top of a dam?

Tug on the track spline points with the upada'-downada' tool.

Measure the height you want, usng the "spline point height measuring tool" (in metric system) and use the "apply height" tool to the two spline points on either side of the dam.
