Track direction problems

When building my routes I always place the track in the direction that the trains will run on it. I take every precaution to lay my track this way. It seems though that when I add a junction for a diverging track somehow some of the track sections close to the junction change direction. I notice it when I place signals on the track they are placed on the opposite side of the track than where they shoud be. I then lay trackmarks down to find the reversed sections of track. Then I have to relay the reversed sections in the right directions. Am I doing something wrong here? Has anyone had this happen to them? I am using TS2010EE build 44088. Any help or advise would be appreciated...Thanks....

Does this mean it doesn't make any difference on the track direction. I am running my trains AI mode. Every tutorial I have read has said to lay the track in the direction of the running of the trains.....Thanks...

Besides its got to be easier laying double track than going up 1 way then coming down the other.

OK thanks, I just thought it might confuse the AI trains by coming by track that is in the opposite direction of what it is going. I do have a double track, and also some 3 track main lines in my route. I guess where I am having most of the trouble is in the junctions on my yard ladders. Thanks for the input, I will just ignore the changing direction of the tracks....

Aparrently the direction layed will determin the side block signals and switch stands will initialy apear on but that is probably all that is affected.

I wouldn't worry about single track direction, as George says it is urban myth.

The shortcomings of double (or other multiple) tracks though are most definitely not myth. Lay two (or whatever) single tracks, don't touch the multiple track splines...

There is one thing multiple track splines are good for, smoothing slopes.

Track will "change" direction when you remove spline. To change direction back, you need to insert spline and remove it. In my opinion the whole concept of track direction is flawed. Real rail is symmetrical. It does not matter if you lay it down east-west or west-east. In prototypical railway all tracks are bi-directional, even on a two-way line. No matter how accurate you are, you will occasionally end up with joining section of track running in opposite direction. I don't think it causes any problems.

I know you can rotate the block signals and the switch stands if they are on the wrong side of the track section. Will this cause any problems? I sure appreciate the help !!!
