Question, Does any body have information on what the computer requirments are for operating TR 2009. Such as memory, graphics etc.
Thank you and have a good day.
Richard

I found this for Trainz Classics but nothing for TRS2009
-----------------------------
Q. What computer system will I need to run Trainz Classics effectively?

A. Minimum Requirements
Windows 98/2000/ME/XP/Vista • P4 1.5GHz • 1GB RAM • 128Mb video card (Geforce equiv.) Direct X 9 or higher • Direct X compatible sound card 8X CD-ROM • 56K Modem for Internet access Installation: Approximately 2GB of available hard disk space.

A. Recommended Requirements
Windows 98/2000/ME/XP/Vista P4 2.0Ghz • 1GB RAM • 256Mb video card (Geforce 4 equiv.) Direct X 9 or higher • Direct X compatible sound card 8X CD-ROM • 56K Modem for Internet access Installation: Approximately 2GB of available hard disk space.
--------------------------------
I would think a slightly beefed up computer beyond the Recommended Requirements listed for Classic would (hopefully) be powerful enough.

Hope this helps gives you an idea of what new computer may be in our future;)

Not sure about the hardware but it certainly needs at least win XP to install.

I am still using win2000 and got a "Program reqiures NT version 5.1 or later" error message when I tried to install the Beta version.

Chris
PS NT 5.1 is usually known as "Windows XP"

tr2009

Hello again I should have given more info. So here it is. Iam running a HP a700n with windows xp. I have increased my ram to 1GB and just installed a 430 Watt power supply and have graphicscard (nvida G Force with 128 mb DDR) Planning on upgrading the graphics card to 512mb.
Thanks for the feedback.

Hello Richard,

Just to give you an idea as to performance in TS2009, I have the following:

HP Pavillion a530n desktop
AMD64 Athalon
1.5GB RAM
ATI X1650 with 512MB
250GB HD
WinXP Home SP3

My Test Route on the following over a one hour run:
Trainz 2004 - 48FPS
Trainz 2006 - 23FPS
TC1/2 - 33FPS
TC3 - 41FPS
TS2009 - 49FPS

The route consists of the full sized Winnipeg CP yards, Weston Shops and dual Mainline of 54miles length which then reduces to a single CTC mainline with the moderate Portage La Prairie yard with the interchange with the CN Rivers and Gladstone Subs. The Single train mainline runs to Brandon MB with several towns and siding in between. The route is not overly populated with scenery and I have not yet used 3d ground textures as seen on the better routes.

The test train consists of my own A2m 4-4-0 american steamer and tender with a TOTC Baggage car and 4 TOTC coaches.

Previous attemps to run both TC versions and the 2009 beta with only 1GB were not satifactory on my setup. Performance would likely be even better with 2GB RAM instead of the 1.5 but I just can't drop the dime to upgrade.

Hope this helps a bit with your requirements.

Brian

Brian, I like your stats. They should give us all hope that trs2009 wil run smoothly :)

I'm hoping to get a copy of the beta next week (missed regestering cutoff by 2 days ) to try out on my minimal machine *Crosses fingers*

TR2006 + TR 2009

What happens when you install TR2009 if you have TR2006 installed?
Do I have two folders with the content files for each system, and can I run the various routes and things previously downloaded in 2009?

I don't want to buy TR2009 if it will muck up TR2006 and the custom content.

computer upgrade

Thank you all for your input. My system works good except when the train approaches areas where there is a lot of background then I get jerky movement, but all in all it woks fine but still want to upgrade.
Have a good day.

TS2009 can be installed to a separate folder that will not interfere with past versions.

2006 + 2009

Hi all - Just to clarify this a little more, I have installed the beta version of 2009 and, after entering my details, started CM2 I just copied my local folder from 2006 to 'My Docs' (that took a long time!), then dragged this copy onto the main pane of CM2. All my content was loaded, (that took an even longer time!!!). I then committed it all.....(I had a sleep while this took place- about 3.5 hours)
To my delight all my routes opened ok. very little missing. in Railyard about half the stock is ok.
I have built a simple stretch of jk's track with the splendid animated points by Andi06? (I think) and chuffed the City of Truro and a rake of GWR (of course) coaches around. All went well and the animated points worked fine.
I particularily like the rumble and occasional squeal as the train goes over points. Any chance of a deep rumble when trains go over steel bridges??
I have added reverb to some of my locos whistles, sounds great.
I am absolutely delighted! :udrool: And am now having a break with a large brandy to celebrate, Cheers all!
