Point to start --> control panel (May have to go through settings first)

In the control panel double-click on "Network Connections". In here there should be an icon representing your internet connection, which may be called then name of your ISP. Right-click on this and click on "Connect". You should now connect to the internet. Keep this window open whilst on the internet and when you want to disconnect, right-click on the internet icon and click on "Disconnect".

Leaving the window open is a good reminder that you are still on-line and paying!

Which login area, your ISP's or this forum or what?

If it's your ISP's login area then when you convert to broadband you'll almost certainly no longer have to log in.

If it's this forum's login area then you need to set your home page:
In Firefox: Tools > Options > Main > Home Page:

Sorry, John, but setting the forum index as the home page will not allow automatic log in.
