Topology steep cut for a creekbed

Using TRS22PE and Classic Surveyor I want to make a creek bed under a 1T bridge and place a concrete abutment at each end, so I think I need a sharp drop at each end and then a Plateau to get a flat bottom. But the topology tool wants to work in a circle, not a straight line. All this in a model RR route so there will be a facia near the track. Can some give me some step by step guidance on how to do this? The creek is perpendicular to the track. I think I can accomplish the facia part with three lengths of spline with the center one at creek bed height and the other two at ground height plus or minus a small adjustment.

I’m not sure I understand fully, but your plan to use splines to make the bank sounds fine. I only wanted to point out that it is easy to create long straight embankments by taking any spline, such as a road or fence, lowering or raising it as desired, and then smooth ground under selected. Looks best in HD, though might work ok for 5m. But probably if you need steep embankments then splines for the bank itself will work.

Thankfully, you misunderstood or I misspoke. I was referring to a spline for a model rr fascia near the track, but you led me to use a road spline to show the path of the creek, level under it and set the elevation, and then delete the road and use a texture for the creek bed if I understood and if all that will actually work. Am I now thinking in the right direction?

Experiment on a test baseboard. The topography tools create fairly large changes or depressions. Likewise for the smooth terrain under a spline tool. It might be easier to get a narrow trench if it lines up with the 10m or 5m grid edges.

Ah, I see what you mean now! :) and yes, that’s what I meant on my side.

And I think OddRails’ suggestion is good too.
