I'm very excited about the latest Norfolk Southern/Tennessee Valley Railroad (TVRM) 21st Century Steam Excursion. I try to go to as many out of Chattanooga as possible and I already have plans for the latest one: Chattanooga to Attalla, Alabama. The all-day excursion is 188 miles long and will occur on November 10th. You can get either Coach ($85), Premium Coach ($115), or Observation Lounge Seats ($135). Southern 2-8-0 #630 will be pulling the train. The tickets also come with either breakfast or lunch (your choice)
In Coach, you can either choose to have breakfast or lunch included with your ticket (you must tell them when you reserve your ticket). Breakfast is served at 9:00 and lunch at 10:45, 2:00 and 3:00. You must choose which serving of lunch you want. If you want to have breakfast on the train, you have to find a place to eat lunch at in Attalla. If you want lunch on the train, have breakfast before getting on the train.
In Premium Coach, you get a continental breakfast, lunch and unlimited refreshments.
In Observation Lounge Seats, you get the same food as you do in Premium Coach.
Lunch offerings on the train:
Homemade Soup
Smoked Ham and Cheese Croissant
Potato Salad
Cole Slaw
Dessert
Beverage
Train departs Grand Junction at 8:00AM Eastern Time, travel along the Tennessee Valley Railroad Museum's own tracks (not Norfolk Southern's mainline), head down the East Chattanooga Belt Terminal (its connection to the Chattanooga and Chickmauga shortline that their excursions take), transfer over to Norfolk Southern and then head to Attalla, which, if they aren't delayed, they will arrive at at 11:45AM Eastern Time (10:45AM Central, and local, Time). Train will layover in Attalla for 2 hours, 15 minutes departing Attalla at 2:00PM Eastern Time (1:00PM Central, and local, Time) and will return to Grand Junction at about 5:45PM Eastern Time.
The city of Attalla will offer entertainment, a car show and shopping while the train's there.
Note: according to Google Earth, another railroad passes through Attalla, intersecting with Norfolk Southern just south of downtown Attalla.
THIS IS AT LEAST THE ONLY TIME THIS EXCURSION WILL HAPPEN.
