Thoughts on improving access to server

Hi all

Forgive me if this sounds daft. Having looked at the FTP server graph over several days I see that the average access speed are around 350kb/sec for 1st class and 3.5kb/sec for basic. Would it be possible to increase the speed of the basic, say to 35kb/sec, which in turn would speed up downloads and then disconnection from server allowing more chance of others connecting. Those on 1st class would still have at least 10 time quicker downloads than basic.

I disagree the speed of the free download was 75kps most of the time and this was before the december crisis and now I have a FCT the speed on that is right its about 300 350kps. Only reason its slow now is due to the server overload I believe.

As i stated these stats are from the current FTP server graph. I'm currently downloading thru CMP3x with bit rate beween 3kb/s and 9kb/s and thats with a good net connection at my end.

You are lucky because I couldn't download for the whold week of christmas and thats why I bought a FCT so just think of being lucky to even be able to get in due to the server overloads the past month now not saying that 3kbs is good

Sorry its 75 kbs and yes it was in Summer of 2010 unless I had already bought a FCT I am pretty sure it was correct me if I am wrong

You must have had a fct, I was still using the free dls in summer 2010 (my fct had run out) because
I was busy getting what I felt I may need, before they shut the free dls to 2004 users.

Wow I had no idea they were that slow. I am glad that I bought a First class ticket then sorry for the confusion everybody .

I used to watch the speed as it opened & sometimes it would start as high as 12kbs but it would quickly drop to 4 or 3 kbs, if I was lucky I sometimes got a
download that ran at 5kbs all the way through, but that would be in the small hours just after midnight.

Why not base the DLS off Bit-Torrent technology, let the users take the network load? As they have done with almost all else in the Trainz world from content creation to hosting.

The server needs impoving access with in content manager regaurdless what verison it is as we can not log in.

for the uk users regaurdless of what time of day it is, as the content manager will not log anyone on to the server and says, (option 1. check poxy and firewall settings). (option 2. server too full and can not download anything if you get log on by server and try to download)

its been like this for nearly over two weeks and no progress as been made.

I try to change password and no effect once i did this option i get option 2. and when i try to log in again i get option 1.

please help as i do not think it is a internet traffic problem
