Thomas the Tank Engine season 12 - thoughts?

With Thomas S12 airing in the UK, I just wanted to hear what you guys think about it so far.

I think that the animated faces and people bring a lot more "life" into the show. I'm also looking forward to seeing the new characters (especially Hank). the only downside is that most of the episode plot s seem a little too familiar.

Overall, I give it an 8/10.:)

Huh, so they're animating the faces now? Good deal; I'll have to watch out for it come DOwT '09 (Day Out with Thomas at the train museum, I usually run a model layout for the kids out of my boxcar).

I hate it. I've only seen a little bit of it but it is an awful idea! It totally ruins the whole imagination part. Kids in the newest generation are watching this new show and their not going to understand why the past episodes didn't have moving mouths. I find CGI is Ruining most of TV now days. While it is good when necessary it is terrible when not needed. What is even worse is the whole moving people. While that is a nice addition it also feels out of place in this world I grew up with.

I wish they would just stop and run the reruns of Thomas. At least then we would be getting the good stuff.

I also have to add that the newer Thomas shows seem... Dumbed down if you will. I mean if I put in one of my old VHS tapes I will still be able to enjoy the plot. Now it seems all the stories have certain lessons to them. Back then there were lessons, but they were more hidden.

I miss the old Thomas shows.

I don't really care that they animated the faces. Its a cool idea, but I don't think viewership will go up because the faces are animated.

Any change is worth while if it keep the kids interested. My Grandson was Thomas mad. Now he thinks it's a baby show & he's only just turned six just not enough action to keep him interested.

I got over Thomas by the time I was three...
"Mommy, real trains don't have faces."

I have since degenerated from there....:o

Animated faces will just make it look even worse, IMO.

I started watching Thomas at a few months old or so my parents say. I still to this day, at 16, will watch Thomas every once and a while. I find it amazing how great such shows from the 90's are compared to some shows now.

Like I said once before. The Animated faces look horrible in my opinion. What's even worse is Season 13 is going to be all CGI. Totally computer generated.

AUGH....CGI needs to be used in certain things but not that...... Keep doing it the way the old episodes were....on a layout. Bring back the old locos to. I started watching when i was born and still watch(I am 17) so i remember the old locos...duck,boco,trevor the traction engine, and such. eveything i knew when i was a kid is going away

Graphics are good but story wise it is total rubbish. Although I don't watch the Thomas episodes I have seen bits on youtube. It looks to me like it's just CGI. The stories are no longer based of real incidents like the orignal ones and they've just got rid of half the good characters e.g. Oliver, Toad, Bill, Ben. If you want good TTTE stuff, read the books or watch the early series.

Watched it.....THEY RUINED THE SHOW!!!!!:'( :'( :'( :'( The animated faces look like rubbish. It makes thomas seem even more fake(yes i know it is fake to begin with but it looks worse). Bring back the physical models. The revend Audry is rolling in his grave at this abamination of his masterpiece for his son,

Actually, I think I spoke too soon. I watched a little of the animation and it wasn't half bad. Of course it takes away from the old show, but seeing the people move around was changed its mind.

Here's a U2be video of the episode entitled "Excellent Emily". It is cute(sorry, but it really is), but honestly, couldn't they create a new series then? I knew that HIT, a US company was going to ruin it with "cutting-edge" technologies. They should have kept TtTE the way it is.

EDIT: OMG Whiff has a cockney accent lol (what next?)....

That animation is strange man...just strange...

Honestly, Honestly! If you want moving people in Thomas The Tank Engine, why not just get a loco firm to build an LBSCR E2 loco and call it thomas? And overhaul half the National collection? And hang faces in the Day out whit Thomas fashion?

Why don't you call it 'Thomas the CGI engine Series 1"? Hit is ruining a great British idea! Where next? Mr. Sir the Texas loco?

/me thinks osq7 must have been reading/watching Holes recently. ;)

Saw about 30 seconds of the youtube vid, and it doesn't change my feelings about the Thomas Franchise: it was beter back in the "good old days". :hehe:

/me wonders if he still has his Complete Colletion lying around, I haven't seen it in ages...

I watched some of the new episodes. They do bring back Duck, stepney, Trevor, Donald and Douglas (with speaking roles). I also hear rumour BoCo is supposed to come back. So, I hope that at least helps.
