My brother told me about this. Archaeologists use this to record environments. They then import the files into 3DS Max or even Blender for post processing.
I suppose something like this could be useful for Trainz. We could use this for buildings and objects, and use the same tools to convert the files to Trainz format using the usual plug-ins. Sketch Up could be used I'm sure as well.
