The smallest computer Trainz can run thread?

I thought I create this thread as the rise of Ultra Mobile PCs or netbooks and nettops may mean Trainz is playable on a very small device. I guess some like to get their "trainz" fix on the move, like in the back of their parents car, on the train, bus or plane and hopefully we can suggest some computers for the community. Ones that aren't particularly heavy and don't break your back! :) If anyone has a UMPC/netbook, I would like anyone to try trainz on it (TC3 is preferable) on a busy layout (we need a bench mark for this) and report back with if it works reasonably or not.

For me, I have a Asus eeePC 901 and TC3 works somewhat reasonably on stock (10FPS at a guess) with the draw distance of object and land set to the minimum possible. (Particle effects have been reduced as well.)
The computer handles Trainz better with a 2GB SODIMM stick that is faster and set to the highest CPU policy.

Specs:
Asus eeePC 901 XP black
Intel Atom 1.6ghz (N270 I think)
1GB RAM A-data DDR2-400 originally now 2GB OCZ DDR2-800
Intel GMA 950 IGP (with dynamically expanding VRAM)
12GB Solid State Drive (Soon to change it to a 120GB Toshiba 1.8" ZIF drive)
8.9" screen
Worked out of the box
Note: TRS on an external 60GB usb drive

Has anyone got any similar devices? Or a benchmark layout (that isn't too busy or taxing?) that we can get the average frame-rate off it?

Back when i was into modding my old PSP, i used some custom firmware and got trainz to run off my card on it. It got about 5fps on a low poly route, but was nearly impossible to control. I'm sure no one will believe me either..

I've just got a 901 eee pc with 12GB SSD and am waiting on delivery of a 16GB SD card, which I'm getting for music but might try to put TRS on. Haven't tried it with an external hard disk for anything other than music but have been pleasantly surprised by the speed and battery life of the thing.

I'll also try to put gmax on it and report back here shortly.

Edit: Have now put TRS2004 on a 2GB SD card, and Rosworth Vale runs just about tolerably with most of the sliders set at around half.

Got a Black Samsung NC10 dual booting Win XP Home SP3 (stock OS) and Win 7 Beta.

UTC and TRS2006 work fantastic at stock settings.

I have upgraded my ram to a 2Gb 800Mhz stick (although system only runs at 533mhz).

Haven't noticed any problems either running Trainz on a separate LCD which is connected when at home...but it didn't seem to like sending audio to my bluetooth headphones. :'(

I started using Trainz on a 400MHz K6-2 cpu, ~380Meg of RAM and a Voodoo 3 video card. It worked, sort of. Better tha a PSP at least.

Hi all

Got a Asus 1000H, 1 Gig memory at moment, no External DVD drive

Have not Tried Trainz on it, got it for amature radio use but a great litttle machine, Did try FS98 but did not like the scrolling involved,Installed FS98 by copying its disk onto a memory stick and installed it from there, a D&D called Runesword runs perfect on it.

Yes think the 2 gig of memory would be a great idear, the tech says they are better in that configuration, also getting one with the latter processor the N280 would be better.

There just great little machines, I am amazed.

Copyed SP3 onto a Mem stick and loaded it onto the little computer D:, figured it would give me some Trainz to play with if the power went down, actually runs quite well on it, did get a couple of small jerks. does any one know of a good layot with senarions with only built in content. Even thinking I might load Valley Tractions that was designed for this version of trainz, atleast I have all the assets if I remember right

Think UTC is only one CD might get a copy of it as well, spose to have the best AI interface, should be able to load it the same way. give me a little more choice on layots.

Loaded 2004

Loaded 2004, yes a little jerky but still very usable, Trainz thinks the screen driver is too old but when I went to the home site i do have the lastest releasen ... oh well.

Loaded U7 V2 as V3 has not been released yet, had script prtoblems with V1 but none of that with V2 and a clean install of 2004 updated to SP4. it is also a little jerky but still very drivable, I think the memory upgrade might actually help this route, did get a long pause while the computer continued to loading, but well worh waiting for and now i can have some more fun with this route.

Forgot to add have the volume up quite high and getting feedback in the keyboard, specially at the joints in the track and its great.
