The Situation

So here's what I've come to.

I have spent 25$ on a first class ticket and two payware locomotives. Trainz won't even work anymore. Great; $25 down the drain. Lovely.

So I'm moving on. Moving on to the hobbies I've been destined for; real life railfanning, guitar, and the main one; photography. I am very into photography, I actually have a film SLR over a digital one.

So I'm upset I wasted my money and doubt I can get it back. This is my final goodbye to Trainz, I'm moving on to real life :P

Well it was nice knowing everybody.

Thanks.

James.

About the first class ticket that you ordered from Auran, part of the $25 you have spent, Auran is closed for the holiday. I am sure you will get it when they return if not sooner. As for the payware you purchased, that is between you and the third party site. It has nothing to do with Auran. Best of luck and Happy New Year. :)

Cheers

James, don't let minor problems stop your interests in things. If you let minor problems make you lose interest in things, you won't have any interests. ;)

Thanks I've cooled down since last night.

It's a major problem though, Trainz won't even startup anymore.
Anymore implies it did work at one time. Did anything on your computer change? Hardware added or removed, software added or removed? One thing that computers are good at is repeating the same process over and over so if something works once it will work again unless something else changes. One thing that often changes, especially with modern computers is the automatic updates that can happen behind the scenes. Check out your video drivers.

Did you add any downloaded content? Try removing it
Try running the Trainzdiag program again. Do you get only green check marks?

In the worst case, delete everything trainz on your computer and do a fresh install.

I've deleted everything Trainz on the computer. Then I reinstalled it. I used a third party uninstaller which deleted EVERY left over file from Trainz.

I added two payware locomotives from JointedRail, and some content from the DLS. The game starts up and works fine without the DLS content and only the payware. But when I add the DLS content, the menu will come up and when I tell it to play, it starts but freezes on the loading screen before even getting to where I select Driver Surveyor etc.

I had played it during the summer with lots of add ons, and I uninstalled it on September 8th to install FSX. My mouse had broken so I couldn't play games anymore. I started missing Trainz about two weeks ago and when I got a mouse for Christmas, I immediately uninstalled FSX and installed Trainz. It started fine but when I put content on it would just freeze on the loading screen. So whenever I have extra content it wont start. I don't understand why because I had loads of content on it during the summer and it played just fine. I'm very puzzled and upset as I want to play Trainz with add ons.

I would appreciate a right answer SO much. It would put me in an incredibly good mood. Thanks so much!

It's going to take some time but you should add the downloaded DLS content one at a time. I sounds like one of them is causing your system to freeze. If it's not a long list, what are the kuid numbers of the content you are adding?

I have no idea- I can't open Content Manager.
Well, since Trainz works before you add the DLS content, stay at that point, don't add anything for now. What are the names of the CDP files you are adding? Or are you adding directly from the DLS inside Content Manager? Take note of the files you add, then when Trainz freezes, open CM directly without starting Trainz Launcher. Disable the last content you added and see if Trainz works. Keep disabling content in the reverse order you added it until Trainz works. Then tell us which was the last object you disabled.

What version and build are you using?

That freezing brfore menu thing happened to me. My solution- disable some of the less needed content via CMP. Then it worked perfectly.

Another method is to leave it in that state overnight (or all day etc.) and it will eventually come to the menu and will work. Worked fine for me.
