The Serial Number has already been registered.

Some months ago I purchased TRS 2006, but only recently installed it. I've TRS 2004, but that's no longer installed on my current PC.

After running TRS 2006 and selecting CMP, the CMP says I must register my Trainz serial number before I can use it. Fair enough. So I do that and I get "The Serial Number has already been registered." message. Looking at my Planet Auran Serial Number page I see my older TRS 2004 serial number listed but not the newer TRS 2006. Whenever I try and enter the serial number it always says... "The Serial Number has already been registered"... but has it? If it has, then why isn't it listed on the serial number page in Planet Auran?

Can anyone throw any light on this? It appears that I cannot fully use the CMP without getting the serial number registered.

PS. Does Trainz Classics 3 include Classics 1 & 2 or should I buy them as well?

Did you buy the game new or second hand? If new, then contact the helpdesk to see who the game is registered to.

As for TC3, it is a standalone game and as such does not include TC1 & 2, although Auran may soon do a package of all three.

Hi Jakey,

Shrink wrapped dosn't mean it's unused, a certain chain of stores has a policy that if you return the software with in so many days and say you aren't satisfied you get a full refund. It is rumored they have a shrink wrap machine in the back store room!

Good point point Lindsay, although it was a GAME shop who make a policy of not refunding if you simply aren't satisfied - it has to be defective. They say its to prevent anyone copying then returning. Something like that anyway.

I think GAME say that you can return it within 14 days if you still have their sealing sticker on it.

i had this issue some time ago, with UTC. i had to send auran proof i bought the game brand new. this was done by showing the reciept showing the game name and price. i had to scan this and send it to a specified email address.
i was sent a second code key that i used to register for the download station. but yeah if its not sorted toalk with auran about how to overcome this issue.

Cheers

Hi Jakey

Did you enter the key-number in CMP or in the planet Auran form? I think the latter should be the right way for registring. :)

Oh dear. I do keep most receipts but usually chuck them in a box marked 'Receipts'. Trouble is I haven't cleared it out for about 10 years and in the winter the cat often takes a fancy to scratching around in there to make a cosy bed... Could be tricky.

As to when I registered it Swordfish, TBH I can't remember. I suspect it was through the CMP as I was very curious about that at first. (Compared with my older TRS 2004). Oh well.
