For those interested, the NRM has put nearly completed LNER 4-6-2 'Flying Scotsman' on display on the turntable this weekend, painted in Wartime NE Black. Haven't found many pics yet but if anyone's got some, post.

EDIT: I did however find this: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-13582357

Cheers

wow, that's great news...she looks pretty in that black paint, almost like she's at a masquerade ball. (yes, i said it, deal with it).

I suspect the paint is of a much better quality than the actual WW2 paint! Also fat drivers and firemen need not apply.

I do like the new look, but it is just so weird to see a loco that is really famous and that has had the same colors for a really long time (that have become well known), to know be a totally different color. Yet again, it is nice to see some other color besides the green.

I've heard a rumor that they are looking to get it back on the mainline in the very near future, and possibly with a set of coaches to match the livery.

now cappie, let's not get the LNER guys mad:hehe: (though, i do have to admit, the apple green isn't the most attractive thing in the world, at least to me. I prefer running the BR dark green version of the Scotsman in trainz, much more than i do the Apple Green).

4472 is hoped to be back on the mainline within the next 2 or 3 months and is set to be repainted into LNER 'Apple Green'. I just wish they have the sense to keep those god awful smoke deflectors off (sorry guys, I just can't stand 'em on a british loco) as they plan to refit them before returing to the mainline. Would her with Tornado, would be a very interesting sight.

Cheers

If they're going to have smoke deflectors on her, at least paint her Brunswick green! (Brunswick Green is what I meant by BR livery, sawyer811.)
