The Mahara Desert Fictional Route

Hi Everyone,

I have started a fictional route in a desert called Mahara. The line is about 50 baseboards long, but I only have about 6 complete. I'll put screenshots up here and when it's done, I may upload it to the DLS. No railroad really owns the tracks, but servicing is done by BNSF.

Today, we followed train 200 from the Goldview Wye to Sand Lake Road. It was a hot day, about 100 Degrees most of the time. This first picture I snapped just in time as 200 pulls out onto Main One, blocking the daily coal run to Morgan City (Not complete).

Lucky for us, he slowed down to hop on the main line, so we drove down to the Desert Road crossing to get some shots. I caught him in the distance working hard. He is loaded with new fords from the plant about 4 miles from here.

After the gates went down, we got a closer shot. The locomotive 70 from the C&MI is leading 200 today.

Facing Southeast towards Sand Lake Road. The National Weather Service was sending out Tornado watches for this area, so I had to hustle to get this shot.

Driving along the road, I got this blocked shot of him racing towards Morgan City.

Following the Daily Coal Run

Hi Everyone,

I have about 10-13 Boards complete now, and I'm up to the next town of Elm Grove. Elm Grove is an Old Western town, and it is where trains heading East cross the Dry River for the Second time.

Tonight, I decided to head to the Goldview Depot and see what I could catch. I waited about an hour, and right when I was about to leave, I heard a faint horn. I got this picture from a distance.

I ran down about 500 feet to the Goldview Tower, where the branch to the Ford Plant diverges off of the main, and got this picture.

I think I got a little to carried away by risking my life for this shot. I ran in front of the locomotive and kneeled down to snap this one. Luckily, the train was only going 10 M.P.H.

I got in the car and drove down to the signals by Desert Road and got a distance shot of the lead engine and his bare consist.

At the Sand Lake Road Crossing, I caught this guy being impatient like everyone else.

From this angle near Elm Grove, we can see the enitre consist glowing in the night.

That's all for tonight.
More tomorrow!

for that last pick the correct locomotive types would be a c44-9w, SD70Ace, and a slug... (anyone be able to give us a heads-up on the slug classification?)

rugrat:p

Rugrat: Sorry 'bout that Rugrat, just wrote what I thought it was...but I remembered that the second loco was an SD70Ace when I was in bed.
Freightcar2: To be honest, I have no clue how I got that. I think it's that I have MSTS downloaded, or it has been reskinned and I have the reskin downloaded. It may be one of the "Loco GE Dash 9's" From the DLS, not be SPORBUST. Just my thoughts though. (I put the number in myself)

Thanks a bunch guys for the good words. This is my first route so its sorta cool. :)

Hi Everyone,

Getting close to 20 boards completed now, and it's looking good.

Today we headed to Goldview Wye to catch the 200 from the Ford Plant. He was there when we arrived, and I got this shot of him pulling onto the main line.

Down at Desert Road, we crossed to the unfinished part of the crossing to take a picture.

Once again, I caught a guy speeding across the tracks, and this guy got hit...he only lost control and spun around.

Crossing the Dry River.

Nearing Elm Grove, we can still see the bridge and the consist. I was surprised to see a green signal going for the Westbound track.

Passing through the Downtown District of Elm Grove, and getting ready to again cross the Dry River.

The green signal turned out to be train 200R (200 Return) that we saw yesterday.

The final picture is 200 passing the Elm Grove Storage/Yard Tracks. Here, trains usually drop off empty hoppers, but there were none today.

it's definately a good start, but my advice would be to landscape it slightly by setting the raise ground tool almost on it's lowest setting and just run it around the map a bit. It would likely improve the look :)

OMG Internet: Thanks for the advice! I've got trainz running right now so I'll do that.

Sethmcs: I've got some downloaded, but what do you suggest? Cacti? Weeds?...Well, I'm horrible with weeds...

Hey Guys, I may have some shots later, school again...yuck. A little preview:

Today we spent some time at the Elm Grove Storage yard, and there was a day full of action...in about an hour. Here, we see...

You'll have to wait until later to find out!

Hi Everyone,

Today, we went to the Centerville Airport Wye to see what we could find. Centerville Airport Wye is as far as I have gotten, about 22 boards out of Goldview.

The first train we saw was the empty coal run to the Elm Grove storage yard, which we will see pictures of tonight. C&IM 70 was the leader, and 73 was trailing.

Indiana Railroad 40 was pulling the gas train out of the airport tank center, and my friend gave me this shot from the cab.

Hi Everyone,

I'm going to upload a demo of Mahara onto the DLS, just so people can get a look at what kind of route this is. Just a freelance where you csn set a consist and run it down the line at 70 mph.

No. That's the wrong one. use the loco catalog at www.trainz.banal.net . click burlington northern santa fe after you enter the catalog. Lok for the loco. Copy the kuid number. open up www.auran.com/trs2004/DLS.php . Paste the kuid. make sure the circle next to KUID is filled in. Click search. (Note: the thumbnail is a picture of a warbonnet unit but if you download it will come out as a H2 unit, the one seen in the picture.)
