Yeah, well anyone can accomplish anything they decide to pursue, but the lady obviously overcame many barriers. I have seen many female engineers while rail fanning though, so she probably was on the cutting edge.
That was an amusing comment she made about wanting to travel on a passenger train but then freight is the main thing there and the dearth of the passenger side. We wwould find it the opposite. Several years ago, I met a man who had live in the Western Isles and had never been on a train even though he had been on the mainland twice. Coming from the Lowlands and a city it is to be exped I suppose. A long time friend of mine over in Belfast and who was a long time very senior civil servant said that he had a job remembering the last time he had been on a train. That made me laugh but the rail system was so badly cut back there in Ulster and he tended to drive everywhere. And that lady worked until 69 that is something as well. Remarkable long service and breaking the mould too.
i am on the NRHS for west barnstable train station and we have a girl engineer in are group who is i think 72 and just completed her training is now driving trains she got her license i think two months ago i have an artical from my room and her name is katheran ps sorry for spelling i forget i how to spell her name correctly anyways cool artical! oh and when did this happen? if its okey i thought i might use this for my current event project i have due soon
