The last 2009 gasp

Hello,

My brand-new, just-got-today copy of 2009 doesn't work!

I have updated everything, including windows, video drivers, .net framework, Direct-X and here is what happens . . .

I double-click on the 2009 icon.

The monitor screen goes black.

A white hourglass icon appears

The end

Looking in the event log, it says that application got hung from the very start.

Only doing a control-alt-delete, will end the hang--or pressing the power button the on the computer.

So, there it is . . . another triumph for Auran ... So, tell me, why have all the previous versions of Trainz worked without any problems?

What are the specs on your system? Are you running Vista??

I would suggest that you remove it from your system COMPLETELY. Use something like CCleaner to get everything out of your system. Reboot your computer and re-install. Make sure that your anti-virus software is turned off!

You also might want to contact the Help Desk and see what they say before you do what I have said above.

Hi,

Quick thoughts:-

1) Does the video card handle Open GL?

2) Using windows explorer, navigate to the TRS 2009 directory and use notepad to open the trainzoptions file.
Add the line "-intro = disable" (lower case - no quotes)

Sometimes the introduction video causes a crash.

3) The first time the program starts, it indexes all of the database. That can take up to an hour or so. Try leaving the program running - have a cup of tea - or something similar - and read a book....

Maybe they have'nt had problems in srude world, but in the real world, they all have had problems...
