The Frisco High Line

"Bucolic" is the word that comes to mind. A hot summer day in a pastoral setting only interrupted briefly by the passing train. In a moment, the noise will pass, and the cows will lower their heads once more into the grass. The dog will find something to chase, and the frogs and insects will sing their way into the hot afternoon. I can hear the dragonflies humming by already!

Well done.

Thanks Ed. I had to look up the word bucolic.

Derrick, do you run Trainz with the gamma set low? The pics always seem dark compared to what I normally see on screen. Not saying it's bad, just trying to understand the difference.

I don't think so. But you are the second person to mention something on the same topic in this thread. Now you have my interest peaked. I'll try to remember to report back my gamma settings tonight.

I have noticed the same screen shots looked very dark on my monitor at work. After a few adjustments they look much better now but not as good as my personal monitor. I do like to set the time of day to afternoon or morning vs. high noon. To me it just seems to bring out more definition in the screenies. I'm not an expert but my guess is different monitors make a difference. I've never made any adjustments to my Acer laptop monitor and my screen shots seem to be much brighter, clearer, and pop compared to the few other monitors I've seen. Another reference point I have is a new HTC One smart phone. The screen shots in this thread seem to compare to my Acer laptop monitor on the HTC phone.

If anyone else has any input on this topic feel free to chime in.

I've just reviewed the screenshots in this thread, and find that they all look appropriate to my eyes, given the sky is overcast in most of them. I wouldn't classify them as "dark". I would say that they appear as if the Sun was behind the clouds, as they certainly aren't illuminated as if the Sun were not. I kind of think that's what Derrick is going for.

I’ve had unexpected “dark” images on some screenshots.

Sometimes it can be caused by having too many programs open, especially those with graphics, which, without knowing the technical reasons, seems to stretch the capacity of the video card.

Attempting to PrintScreen images onto an overloaded clipboard also seems to cause me grief. Closing some other applications usually helps.

It probably happens about one per month. If all else fails, all seems to be OK after a PC restart.

Other more controllable reasons have been to do with the time of day and weather settings. Altering the clock and weather conditions in Surveyor shows the usual immediately obvious change. However, any shots taken in Driver can have a very different lighting effect unless the Startup Options have been edited to match the Surveyor settings.

Nice shots BTW!

p.s I too had to look up, "Bucolic":o

Local train #54 creeps across a farm road in Polk county at mile marker 144. Per the 1952 employee time table under "Special Instructions" page 17 - section 4 - Clinton Subdivision, the engineer must not exceed 15mph. This is a dangerous blind crossing. Unfortunately accidents have not been a rarity here.

It's been a bit since my last post so here's another shot of this good looking MKT F7 pacing at restricted speed of 15 mph through downtown Clinton, Mo.

It's been hard to find time to work on my route lately between work and busy weekends. Deane has made a super nice "MFA Agri Services" building. I can't wait to put in Lowery City where it still stands today along the old High Line grade. Hopefully soon...

A Frisco F7 creeps into the frame and across 3rd st towards the freight house showing off its' new mandarin orange and white paint scheme.

For some reason the patrons of the Lowery City hotel always seem to keep their windows closed on the north side of the building.
