The forum screen display has changed!

For some reason, the forum screens have changed so that everything is larger. The type face is still set at 2 so that hasn't changed, it is almost as though something has magnified everything.

It is only the forum areas that are affected, elsewhere in Windows the display is normal so it does not seem to be my machine at fault. I can't find a forum setting that might have been changed, is there one?

Has anyone else seen this effect? An indication of the change is that now about 1" of every normal post is off the righthand edge of the screen.

All normal here Peter, and AFAIK all the N3V folks are sunning themselves on a beach for the next week or so, so it is unlikely anything has been tweaked at an 'official' level...

Is the zoom level in Internet Explorer still set to 100% and not mistakenly set to something higher ? The forum looks as it should on my system

Thanks. That is exactly what has happened, don't know when or how it was changed, setting it back to 100% fixed my viewing problem. I didn't realise that IE had that function.

Peter,

No problem. I have done the same myself after I have zoomed IE to view a small picture and then forgotten to reset the zoom level afterwards. There is a setting that I found once that would reset the zoom level once IE had been closed but I cant find it again now! If I do work out where it is I will post details

OK.. I found the option for resetting to 100% when IE is closed.

With IE open go to 'Tools' then 'Internet Options'
Go to the 'Advanced' tab and the first section if tick boxes relates to 'Accessibility' options.
Put a tick in 'Reset zoom level for new windows and tabs'

If you do zoom your IE display in the future and forget to reset it on closing, IE it will reset itself to 100% when you next open it, or new tabs will open at 100%

Even quicker, Andy.

Hit Ctrl + 0 to reset to 100% (normal size).
Ctrl+ + (plus key on number pad), increases the zoom by 25%
Ctrl+ - (minus on number pad), decreases the size by 25%

As I get older, I find I'm hitting the Ctrl++ more and more!

One little thing, be aware that ctrl+0 (zero) is dependent of your theme settings, at least on windows 7 :hehe:, and not allways 100%.

The setting for this can be found by right clicking on the desktop and selecting change personal preferences / screen. (free translation from dutch based system)

Over here my default setting is 125%, it's an age thing ya know.

Best wishes for 2012 from cloudy Amsterdam,

I did this too, albeit unintentionally, but mercifully, it went away soon. I think I may have hit the Windows logo key and then maybe another. No clue really, but it did finally go away; however, the large text was easier to read, so go figure. :)

Cheers

Possible reason...

Have you perhaps accidentally hit the Ctrl button whilst scrolling up and down the posts using the mouse wheel?

Ctrl+mouse wheel is intended to zoom the screen image size. It's a great tool to use for viewing the small print and images - its use seem to increase with age!

Cheers
