The Erecting Hall Screenshot thread

Yep, it's a set of E7s. Speaking of that, just finished a second version with some things tweaked a bit to make it look better:

Lowered the contrast on the raised metal areas and used different meshes for the engines (no handrails, smaller numberboards, and some other small changes). I'll get some skins done for it eventually.

What that guy said

Amazing E units Chris (do you mind if i call you chris?)!!

It's up to you dude. Thanks for the compliment though. :D

Chris,

Wow! My favor E7 A-B.. Hope Illinois Central,Milwaukee Road(Hiawatha) and ATSF too. I'm not other road name.. ;)

NKP

I might do those if i have the time...and the patience. Both of those schemes were quite a bit complicated. I did manage to get at least one skin done today though.

Took about four hours to get everything the way i wanted it. Definitely not an easy paint scheme to recreate, that's for sure.

Looks amazing Chris! What about a Milwaukee Road frieght scheme? That seems to be easier than the hiawatha scheme. But you know, its your model and your choice of what skins you make!

And that was the simplified paint scheme SP chose to replace the Black Widow paint. One thing to point out though is the headlights should be painted red as well.

Ya, that's an issue. There's two problems with attempting to do that: first off, i don't know where the lower headlight is mapped to. In addition to that, the top headlight is mapped to the same texture as the face of the cab. Making the top headlight red would make the front of the cab red as well. It was basically a matter of what looked better: red headlights and cab, or grey headlights and cab.

Ultimately, i chose the latter because making the cab face red would be totally incorrect to the prototype, and making the headlights grey isn't that big of an issue to me. Actually, the right number board also has a texture issue that isn't seen: the bottom of it has a red splotch on it, cause its mapped to the same place as where the middle of the nose is, so i had to leave that alone as well.

Truthfully, i did the best i could with the materials provided, and i'm happy with the result. Yeah, there's certain details that are wrong, but fixing them introduces more errors that are even more egregious to deal with. Long story short, i like it. :)

Been busy working on other things lately, so nothing notably new, but I did go ahead and do a brief "render" of the 261 mockup we have going on. Credit to the idea for this style of lightbox goes to TrainzPlayer 14... saw ya shots, love the reflection idea - I had to give it a try myself. Thank him for that!

Glad to see I served as an inspiration Leo.....:)

The idea actually came from one of Chance's screenshots awhile back, who posted a shot of a street view with wet road surfaces, I immediately realized he was using water of course, but it didn't click in my slow-to-process brain I could use it for a lightbox until I saw one of Richarde57's screenshots :D
Needless to say my idea came from several people, I appreciate you like my screenshots.

Very nice work Leo on the mock-up Milwaukee S3, I know a certain member on the forums who would probably drool over that........ :hehe:
