The route pictured in my last two screenshots is JointedRail's Legacy of the BN II route, which I modified by adding background mountains, increasing the number of trees, and making some asset replacements (track, ballast texture, trees, trackside grasses, etc.). I created the background mountains in Surveyor 2.0 by adding more baseboards around the perimeter of the original route (15-20 baseboards wide around the perimeter) and then progressively raising the terrain height using large brushes (500 - 1,000 m radius). It took some time, but I'm pleased with the result. A better method would be to use a DEM to create the mountains, but I haven't learned how to do that yet (someday! )
Great job! I undertook to replace the billboard trees with rmm trees, so it looks better to me, but yours is far and away the best looking I've seen! Are the mountains actually timbered with trees or did you find some sort of texture that looks like it?
Thank you! The mountains are just textured using a mixture of the textures shown below. I think any combination of dark grass textures would produce a similar effect.
Something slightly different: CMQ in Québec (this route is just Tidewater Point Rail in disguise ):
