The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

Rick, that menu would make a nice keepsake alright.
I like all the little details on your route. The pigs made me think of when our family lived on a little farm. We weren't farmers but had a few pigs, chickens, turkeys and a couple of mean-as-can-be geese. In the fall when temperatures started dropping below freezing the pigs would all sleep together under a pile of straw. When we went to feed them in the morning you couldn't see them at all but the straw came alive and a bunch of steaming pigs would appear as soon they knew it was breakfast time. We named the runt Arnold. Wonder where that name came from? lol!

Have a good one,
Jack

Rail4Pete, How do I use the door and window system for your barns? I have the mesh libraries installed.

Hi MeowRailrod, I was wondering how come we never see any screenshot from you since you are a very active member on the forum ? To answer your question, the mesh Library alone can't do anything. You have to also download all separates Windows that are on DLS (mine start with R4P) but user Shortline2 has the red Windows so you will have to make a serch via CM with filters for Windows and username .

Once you got the stuff, you just need to rotate them and lift them up to place them at the right height (to lift them with small increment you press the shift key simultaneous while moving your mouse). Hope this helps.

Another great success Rick ! For the ramp you should try kuid2:77573:37403:1 wich is a spline you can adjust for height (dirt road with fill) that would be more realistic I think. Also kuid:101046:100464 which is a wooden farm bridge combine with the previous spline make it well to access second level of barns when using big doors. I have not uploaded yet the blue window Library as there is much to do on it.

May I ask the kuid # of the step (Platform) where dog is please ?
Regards
Pierre

Rail4Pete, the barns are real nice and Rick is sure using them to best advantage.

Here, VIA #1 sits in the siding at Clavet waiting for the light as CN #114 heads east.

CP/DAR cars use to run here

Hi,
I can't find a colour picture of a DAR passenger car. Is it the same as Canadian Pacific? Like this:

dar%2001_zpskmu1zdzb.jpg
[/IMG]

There are two fonts in use, Arial for the road name; Times New Roman for the car number and type.

I randomly set the number to 311 and it's called "Coach"
I can use any four digit number (including no number) and any text for the type, also including blank.

There are other fonts available besides the 2 mentioned, I don't what they might be.

Let me know. I don't know whether I can use ARN (automatic rmumble Numbering).

cheers,
--Michael.

called "Old West Outhouse" kuid on picture.
Enjoy.

I used that outhouse on Dragons pass and put a skeleton inside it wen ever you drive buy the door opens and Mr. bones looking at you setting on the toilet for the past 800 years. ;)

Is that to remind you what things look like? Good idea.

You got it in one. The layout used to have 10,000+ assets but Trainz could not handle it. So I moved all the Locos & rolling stock etc. to a second, all the speed treez to a third. Trainz can't handle that either. The current layout has 6500+ assets. I use it when I'm looking for a particular object: certain size, certain colour or etc.

We'll see what P:ANE can do. (Opps I spelt it wrong :p )

chaeers,
--Michael.

I like the skeleton in the outhouse idea Dragonharh. That would be great for Halloween! Speaking of outhouses and Halloween brings back a few memories.

Another beautiful farm Rick. Heard you had more snow on the way. Not to rub it in but it's sunny here and the snow is still melting away. You guys out east deserve an awesome summer!

Cheers

I believe for the time period you're modeling Rick, rectangular wooden granaries were most likely used. I'm guessing maybe 10 by 12 feet or so. That's what they had here until circular ones started appearing in about the late '60s. I used to help out on a grain farm and the rectangular bins were not much fun to empty. Stick the auger in and move it around to get most of the grain and then shovel the rest. Everybody uses galvanized circular ones now, some with flat floors and some sitting on a metal framework and tapered at the bottom. And there are always the guys who don't have enough bins and store some of their grain on the ground. There are a lot of pictures if you Google grain bins, mostly the newer style but some of the old wooden ones. As for the number, hard to say. Farms were smaller back then so maybe a half dozen? Just guessing here.

Those chickens look like they have it made. Nice touch putting one on the roof!

Cheers,
Jack
