The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

Morning Ladies and Gents:

I see we have slipped to page 3 ... again! Have you Canuks started hibernating already? That can't be right, it's going to get up to 22 degrees down here today.

Well, I made it to the half way point of my route. It's just the first pass, I'll go back and start adding fun items when I reach the end. The second half should not be too bad ... only about 2 million bushes to plant in that area!

Hope you are all feeling great! Get off your bums and show us what you have been up to!

Cheers .... Rick

You know, the track didn't look that bad before I took the shot! I better do a little work on it.

whats intresting is if cars ever wore banned off roads we be screwed because they tore up the tracks and trains have dissapared it most places that are now trails.

Very inspiring shot Rick. Today I have uploaded one of my ''cloned'' Barn Library to DSL with the associated barns. This one has only unpainted planks, mostly similar to what Shortline2 made but with my own planks texture.
Bye!

Hello all,
I finally finished the track to the outskirts of the Golden yard and I thought I'd take a break and post a screenie or two. These are from a 'bump' on the west edge of Columbia Lake where there are a dozen or so residences that are MILES from anywhere. Except in winter when one can cross the lake to Windermere. Also I used this area to solve my speedtree problem. I seems that if one has too many varieties of speedtrees in 'view', Trainz messes and forgets some of them. It turns out that 30 different types of speedtrees is a good upper limit. The number of speedtrees seems to be less of a problem the the number of types of speedtrees.

Nice shot Rick and Michael. @ Rick, instead of lowering each bush 1 meter down, have you though of (tip) cloning this bush and set the config to a lower height so it would be at good height every time you plant it ?

where are your locomotives

They are on DLS search under username Froobie. You will find them. The one here in the screenshot might not be uploaded yet.

Hi all,
I just checked; the 2-10-2 #5805 is on DLS. However the screenshot is wrong. Oppps, sorry. I usually re-skin them in threes, one all black - usually CNR - one in black + grey and one in grey + black. A very large percentage of US locos reskinned from Ben Neal's marvelous work are in the grey + black scheme. What I do, in broad terms, to make an all black scheme is to copy the black bits and paste them over the grey bits and so on for the other schemes. I have a PSP workspace with all the black and grey bits as separate images.

I've never been happy with the 'grey'. CPR colour is a 'bluey grey'. I finally found a technique to blue the grey without losing the weathering. I submit the following as an example:

If you squint you might notice that the weathering is the same on both. What I did, in essence, was to create a pale blue image with opacity set to 7 (almost transparent) and overlay the blue image on the grey bits.

Why, you might ask, is he babbling on? Since the screenshot for #5805 is wrong, I plan to update many of the locos as I find and change things. Example, many CP locos had red window frames. When I perfect the way to add red frames I'll retro-fit them as appropriate. When I'm done I'll post new versions. And then there is tanE...

Rick, I've tried putting grass and shrubs down, but TS12 can't handle a lot of meshes. My choice is distance or shrubs & grass. I choose distance. When I was putting grass down, I'd build a grassed up single grid square, or 2 or 3 and then copy and paste rotating as I go until I have a 20x20 square, copy and paste to 100x100 and then 200x200. when I do the areas that are far from the track, I paste a whole baseboard at a time. A LOT of area can be planted with trees going a baseboard at a time.

That's all for now.
cheers,
--Michael.
PS I didn't miss the firebox.
