The Canadian Thread - Hi-Res images

Hello gang,
Relatives have returned to their various abodes. I'm not criticizing, not all. A really good time was had by all.

My first for today - dang CN folks  - where is this 4-6-2 ?

The next 3 are CP 4-6-2s near Sirdar, BC

There's a goof in the third picture. Sorry.
The four locos will be heading towards the DLS later.

There have been some simply awesome screens recently. Hey rick, I sure need a brew. Great shot! I'm an engineer, a good one I like to think, but the creative artistry I've seen here is not in my bag of tricks. :'( But with you folks to give me ideas, I'll do okay. Thanks!

I'm going to sign out. The route used in pictures 2 to 4 is a WIP. I've done 310 km. of track. About half way.

I'll have some 2-8-2s done soon.

cheers,
--Michael.
Hi Michael, Thank you very much for the latest CP an CN steam you released (while I was on vacation) these are great ! The CP version will be much used on my Québec Central Route which I am still working on since 2010. May I ask you which cars (consist) do you use in these 2 screenshot ?
Thanks Rail4Pete

PS Hi Rick !

WCL, can you please stop asking for these? It is likely that adamovic will not release them for a few months. Please stop being a gimme-pig, and try to realize that they will be released soon.... Thanks!!!

5th, a Diner ex TOTC, from Ben Dorsey
6th, an Observation ex YVRR, from Ben Dorsey

The six originals are on DLS. Their licences preclude me uploading my reskins to DLS without permission.

These aren't on DLS,

I have to redo this section because I used too many different trees and shrubs. I've deleted the grass already, shrubs next :'( :'( :'(

The shots are from an important CPR junction: Fort Steele;

and have a peek here:

When I was doing the track for this piece, as always I have google Earth open and I saw this:

I believe it's referred to as a "Unit Train". This one is taking 'empties' to the coal mines to the east.

Because I'm an engineer :hehe: I counted the 'empties'

FtSteeleconsistmeet2_zpsd8642328.jpg

I got about half of the 143 empties in this shot. (google Earth coords: 49 Deg 37'44.72" N 115 Deg 38'21.02" W)

Time for some coffee...
'til next time,
cheers,

Last year there was next to nothing for canaidan stock but now its starting to apare good work guys its nice to see something form your homeland in trainz

Update: The SW1200RM is coming along nicely I'm putting more detail on it then my CNm420 and I'm beefing up the detail this is what I'm aiming fore:
CN7101%20Dartmouth4Feb1998small.jpg

I'm going to rebuild the cam because of the windows and I'm not holding back.
I plan on making it night mode like the M420 with lights and dimmer cab.
fans fuel burning and grills are being changed.
Rick i didn't get time to do the last part of the trail been too busy to do it this year sorry bro.
Keep pumping out the CN & CP stock its purifect. ;)

I kinda doubt these will be released. Most of those photos were from RRmods Facebook page last year.

I don't know RRmods is starting to get back into the swing of things with their geeps. I really hope somethings are released because I have seen some great looking content on the forums from them.

The chains are 3d there no cut out meshs on this model everything is detalied and I'm thinking about doing what I did with the DPR GX unit with the load add on detailing for a extra look.
The licents for this model is very driffent and for good reasons
SW1200RM Freeware License:

Nice shots. Just out of curiosity, how far do you plan on taking the route? I've spent considerable time around Crowsnest watching trains; would be neat to rendered in Trainz.

Here is a TransDEM screen of the route:
CPREast-dem-labels_zps7df93aa7.jpg
[/IMG]

Blue: (as I call the route) CPR BC East,
Red: CPR mainline,
Purple: Kettle Valley RR.
The route contains all the track shown. The map goes as far east as Coleman, AB. TransDEM built a route with the track, roads and rivers & streams. The data TransDEM uses for the track comes from The National Railway Network database and appears to designed for map application and is likely accurate. However combining elevations, topographic or satellite imagery into a trainz layout provides a rough draft, as it were. Refer to post #1113 for an example. I've sanitized the track from west of Midway to Fort Steele. This is about 40% of the track. Track length is approx. 558 Km. I've been a little loose with the era, I included track (Midway to Castlegar) which CPR has abandoned. I've also included the BNSF tracks near Grand Forks and the UP connection at Kingsgate. AS well, tracks to the border crossing at Waneta, BC is there, but I don't know if the track is used or by whom.
Some numbers for the rivet counters: Finished TransDEM, July 7th 2014, route contains 16,179 baseboards and is 1.2 Gbytes in size. (Trainz dies trying to make a .cdp).

As an aside, the KVRR is about 20% done, perhaps another year to finish. CPR BC East, track should be done early new year; roads late spring, just in time for TANE.

Thanks for the clap. That area is radically changed. I'm trying to find a combination of pofig trees and billboard trees that trainz can handle. The vegetation in the shots as posted is beyond trainz capability; it loses large areas of trees and shrubs. They aren't gone, you just can't see them.

Any more questions, ask away.
cheers,
--Michael.

I wish I had your energy my friend! I fainted after looking at the map! I have a feeling you are putting in 8 hour days and possibly overtime! Don't forgot to take a little time off now and then.

Cheers .... Rick
It fits my ?lifestyle? and the present severely limited capabilities of my host body. :'(

Geez, I have got to find out what kind of energy drinks Michael is using!

Well a couple of the things I brag about: I've lost 41 Kilos, (90 lb.) and cured my diabetes. :D The rest can't be fixed :'( :'( :'(
\climbing onto podium. Holier than thou mode on.
My daily intake of sugar is less than 40 gm. and NO artificial sweeteners.
So no energy drinks, pop, beer or mixed drinks just an occasional whisky and red wine with supper.
\Holier than thou mode off and falling off the podium.

Cheers,
--Michael.
