Testing If Trainz Will Run on Laptop

I have used Trainz for many years and presently use it on a WIN XP desktop. I just bought a Win 8.1 laptop and before I buy a the latest version of TrainZ O'd like to confirm that it will run on the laptop. Is there some sfw I can use to test the laptop? Thanks!

If you can post the specifications of the laptop, then it can be checked.

Thanks! I loaded Trainz 2009 and it seems to work OK. I think I will stick with it for now.
