Telephone Poles and Frame Rates

I have a new route finished--- EXCEPT for the addition of Telephone Poles. But, it's running pretty well now--- pretty good frame rates. My question is this: If I add telephone poles to my route, will I lose frame rates?

Thank you in advance

Add them to three consecutive boards (assuming default draw distance)and run through - if it slows down take 'em out, if not you should be right to do the whole thing....

Andy :)

And if one set slows things down too much try another--there's quite a wide variety of pole lines, and some slow things to a crawl while others have almost no effect.

Its a tradeoff between realism and FPS.On my route I always have Telegraph Poles, 2 X Fences and usually Signal Wires and Point Rods. The alternative is to have a featureless route with fabulous FPS..:(

Hello davesnow, It depends if you want telegraph poles running the whole length of your layout, another suggestion would be to just have them in the open countryside then they won't lag the fps too much, and at least with a few poles visible it retains a little bit of realism, but if you have them in built-up areas and alongside roads, fences, walls, footpaths, tree splines, etc, then your fps will suffer greatly. Don't have too many cameras set up on your route either, as they affect your fps also.
