Teasing time...

Hi all,

As I already had the screenshots prepared, and is without power for a day in a few hours time (they will change some power lines in the area..) I figured that in case I decide that life without a computer (a whole day without, wow...) would be a great life, well, then this is something that will never become more then a memory...
Like me.. :wave::p

First, a look at something from last week as I finally decided to play around in gmax again...

A couple of those who knows me might recognize this - they both helped in their way with the info for this one...

Maybe it is easier to see how it looked a few days later:

How about that, I actually done some mining stuff again... :p

This is a high, but slim orebin - to high for any of my test maps so I have stopped working on it for the time being.
Of course, having spent time this weekend digging up Cripple Creek info from old mining journals had an impact too... :hehe:

Tomorrow I plan to sleep as we are without power all day long - I'm up due to eBay, but being 04:06 in the morning, I need a couple of hours up before breakfast and bed again - I think...

Tomorrow night, rest of the week, not sure what I do - might work on this, might do research, who knows.

But, at least I was able to do some modeling again, and that did feel great!

So, there you have it guys, teasing time for now is over - the Aerial Tram is already posted in another thread, and beside that, I have nothing new to show...

Take care all, I think I will go dig up a setup for the TS2009 track next time I'm back in Trainz mood.

Best wishes from Norway

Linda

Slight update

Thank you Ed,

After some bad days, I got to do some fun stuff today...

It's the Head Frame that goes with the ore bin...

And yes, it still is a work in progress, both of them...

But, they are in TS2009 (as TRS2004 items) now, and I can play with them and dream away... :hehe:

There's is still quite some work left to do, I need to make a hoist house, a new trestle, fix up the ore house, the shaft and so on...

But, I'm playing - that is good. :D

And, yes, I like teasing a little - but in the end, I also deliver, even if it takes a while for some stuff.
I don't show stuff I don't plan to share - this one is a special project for someone - making it among the last TRS2004 item I will produce I think as I try to move on with TS2009 and learning new ways.

Latest I heard about mesh-stitching was interesting - and opens up possibilities I can't have in earlier Trainz.

Oh, I found one last shot I like so much I had to add it in here....

But, enough of this, I leave now - need my beauty sleep so to speak. :)

Wow. I likey. Thanks for making this stuff for other people to enjoy. Myself included, it really is a pleasure to see and use works of art. And the fact that this is mining stuff makes it all the better.

Great work Linda, your content never ceases to amaze.

I look very forward to seeing what else might be in store.
Thanks for all the great Content :)

Thank you for the very nice comments guys!

Today was a slow day, we had a trip out down to a slight larger town/city center in the area called Jessheim, as Tore had a appointment down there with someone I hope will be of help to us over time.
Rain most of the day, sun in the late afternoon.

Hence, not a very good mood setting day - but, I was able to crank open gmax a little and whip out what turned out to be a large hoist house for the Iron Blossom Mine I've been working on for the last week or so.
Working from a drawing set I got hold of from the Narrow Gauge & Short Line Gazette I been trying to faithful recreate the structure as the drawing says, but I've not fully succeed as set out to do.
But, I'm happy with the way I do it though. :)

For the place in Trainz where I put this it might be a little to large set of structures - and when comparing the head frame and the hoist house to the ore bin - it sure looks like a tiny ore bin...

But, I'm having fun, and while making up the start of the texture set for this structure took me a while - and left me with no time to do the rest, I think I'm on a good track here.
Now, to find time and energy to do the rest.

It's around 01:20 here, Saturday is only a night of sleep away - so I'm not sure when I will work on this again.

So, for the time being, this is where I stand now:

First, a look at the basic shape and look of the new hoist house. I have yet to map out textures for the windows and doors, add on a corrugated roof and a foundation - and for my use, a smokestack might also be installed. :)

Second, here is the hoist house as seen from the backside of it, looking down the hill and seeing all 3 models of mine. :) and, yes, I need to map out a texture for the roof as this is only basic planks.

Third, this view shows all 3 models looking up the hill, the good thing about making this as separate models I'm more free to place them around in the ground and just connect them as needed. :)

Hope the views can bring some pleasure to look at, they do for me and that is the important part I think. :p

And, with this I sign off for now.

Hi all,

Not been the most productive weekend - but been far better then normal around here :)

Yesterday, while sulking because I had no forum to "waste time" on I got to do some work on the hoist house at least.
Before my time become spent other places yesterday I did post a picture and a short update in my blog and as the forum now is back I figured I can post it here too while preparing for checking in TRS2004 for two things that are ready - one might be shown later tonight.. ;)

Here's the hoist house as it looked in TOE yesterday - it had a slight change on the window texture after this shot, but it gives the info I want to give so. :D
I consider this as a finished model, my test been in TS2009 so I need to check the TRS2004 before packing it up.
I know, it is a dirty model, been out in the rain a couple of years maybe, unprotected - like the place I live here in Norway...
Building site, no finished though...

Now, if you excuse me, I'm off to do some other important stuff - watch TV... :hehe:

Best wishes always

Linda

Hi Ed,

You do, I can't remember that - but then again, I'm not sure if I can remember yesterday either... :p

Actually TV is most often not that important, neither are Trainz, but I often do find more joy in Trainz then in the TV when it comes to really submerge my self for hours into a thing to do.
For a 45 minutes to and hour escape from the world though, TV is a good candidate. LOL

And, so did my test of the models in TRs2004, they looked OK, not great up close (worse then my usual standard  ) but I can live with it until another day.

I built the hoist house with a 2048x1024 pixel texture as my source images was about that size, but I have reduced that down to a 1024×512 pixel without it affecting the look to badly. Become somewhat more blurred and bad upfront, but I will live with it for now.
After all, 1,5MB is better then 6, right…? LOL

I’ve also spent a little time building my self a dynamite shed, based loosely on the drawing set - mine made out of stone, the drawing indicated brick walls.

What is left to do is to upload these as TRS2004 objects to Auran’s DLS and the TPR Download Depot and move on to fix up the head frame, the ore bin and a trestle to connect it all.

But, I can't leave you all without sharing a few pictures, can I? LOL

First out, the newest & final look of the hoist house, I’ve added the same water stain/damage to the windows as already was on the wall. This makes it a little more believable I think, and hopefully make it appear like a about 2 year old structure that been standing out in the weather unprotected. hence the dark patterns on the wall - just like I see outside my own window everyday - it’s depressing, but in Trainz it only adds characters to the scene.

Second up is a closeup look of the newest member of the Iron Blossom No.3 family - what I call (and think is) the Dynamite shed. This shed might not be among my greatest creations texture wise, but it was a rather fast job and I’m so far happy with it, so I leave it at this. :)

The third, and last picture I’m showing now, is as always, a look at the whole scene as it now stands in Trainz. :) I’ve done it a few times now, and it helps to see how I play around in Trainz and dreaming away and from that I relax on my gmax creating time… LOL
You get to see how I sat the dynamite shed into the hill, how the hill was dug out to make room for the massive hoist house (OK, this started as a adit/tunnel mine in my head… ), how the head frame is situated some meters lower on the hill, and way down there in the small valley, by the railroad track, is the newly/freshly built (by the look of it that is LOL) ore bin!
You also see I’ve added a few small houses for the miners to live in - after all, I to try take care of them, and no log cabins for my miners… :hehe:

So, there you have it, this was how I spent my weekend Trainz/modeling wise - how was your weekend? :)

Nice work Linda. Glad to see you still remember how to make stuff. The weathering and roof textures look excellent as usual.
