T:ANE seems to have randomly destructed all of my payware content

This started with one engine seriously acting up, not wanting to drive, have ARN, or even have a proper interior(when switched to interior cam, the game just put a camera into the "external" cab model, if you catch my drift). Decided that closing the game entirely was the best course of action. Nooope. Restarted the game and now a -lot- of engines are broken. Database repairs haven't fixed it, PC restarts haven't fixed it. I'm losing my freaking mind.

Have you modified anything with the scripts? You may need to go into your T:ANE local data folder (location can be found via Trainz Settings > Install) then deleting the contents of cache/libraries (make sure it's only that specific folder).

Late response, but no, i haven't modified anything. This just happens randomly, stuff just breaks like this, and i have to shut down T:ANE and fault-check the assets in CMP and restart CMP multiple times before the issues just disappear.

You have some kind of data corruption occurring. If this is happening more often than not, I would check your hard drive for errors. There could be something else that's causing this.

As with all versions of Trainz, it's best to wait a minute or two before restarting or shutting down the computer as this will ensure that the data files (assets.tdx in particular) have a chance to close down completely so not to corrupt the data.

In the event that your hard drive is fine, then I recommend reinstalling these assets. During the process, you will have assets open for edit and will have to submit all assets to overwrite them with the new data with built-in assets needing to be reverted to original.

hard drive is fine, so i guess im gonna have to reinstall everything. Although, this doesnt always happen with the same exact set of assets, so i doubt anything will change. Ive done more bugfixing, crashing and database repairing than actual enjoyable playtime with this game :/

You have something corrupted that's all I can say.

I have nearly 190,000 assets installed with zero errors. This includes many, many, many locomotives from Jointed Rail and other sources as well as assets and routes I imported from various places including my own creations. This makes about 170,000 non-built-in assets with some being quite old such as a couple of routes which date back to 2003 and 2005 respectively which I worked on back then.

So you need to check further. Installing the program may not be necessary, but reinstalling corrupted content maybe required. Once installed, ensure that all content is up-to-date, including that installed from Jointed Rail. They have done some updates to various components recently so ensure your scripts are up-to-date as well as cabs, engine sounds, and other components.

Once you've updated and installed, ensure there are no missing dependencies or assets open for edit. If there are any built-in/payware from N3V assets open for edit, you need to revert them to original - right-click on them in CM and choose revert to original with the assets highlighted.

If any of these conditions are there, you'll have problems. If there are any faulty assets, post the errors in a separate thread, and someone will assist you with the repairs. Most of the issues are pretty simple to repair if there are any.

More power to you then, because i have tried reinstalling the repeatedly broken assets and have had no luck. Im stuck with near-constantly broken content in a game that cant go 1 hour without a crash on its own, let alone remain stable with 3rd party addons.

Keeps crashing...

What is your build number which is located on the launcher?

There were issue with earlier versions which would do this. This may also explain some of the issues you are having with the scripts as things were repaired with the later builds.

78667. Didn't seem relevant for some reason, but i lost my critical thinking skills and good judgement years ago. I'd love to patch the game up to the latest version, but the fact that my ISP is throttling my speed down to horrendous levels because i overran my 10GB/Mo data limit already (resets on 22nd each month) makes it nearly impossible for me to download any of the ginormous patches and hotfixes in any reasonable timeframe. That's also assuming the the download doesn't just fail if my internet is interrupted for any reason. I'm stuck with the base build probably until hell freezes over, because the only other ISP in my area is dragging their feet on installing fiber optic internet here.

BINGO! This is the issue.

The current build is 84204 and is T:ANE SP1 HF4 which resolves many of the issues you have at the moment.

Unfortunately I can't help you with your ISP data issue, however, you can download the latest version from your My Trainz account whenever you get the bandwidth. This will be a full install which will bring you up-to-date or close to it. The advantage is the install is only one followed by very small patches, unlike going from one patch to another, then another.

The alternative is to contact N3V. They were offering the updated version on DVD or thumb drive for those that had problems downloading. I don't remember the details, but if anything it might be worth a try and find out. Sorry I couldn't be anymore helpful than this.
