Switching Route

Downloaded and I think installed his Port Ogden & Northern route and now I get this message.

Error: This asset has a trainz-build number which is not recognised by this tool.
What do I need to do?

Make sure your Trainz build (5-digit number on the Launcher) is 49922 or higher. If it's not, post it's current value.

Try out 'Detroit Connecting Railroad', <kuid:107727:1008> made by chrisracer8903. It is available on the Download Station and was built-in in Trainz 2010. It's my favorite switching route. My second favorite is the 'WallaWalla', based on the 'Walla Walla Valley Ry.' a model railroad featured in Kalmbach Publishing's Great Model Railroads 2005. The route was made by jkeenan, <kuid:64038:42007951>. It features some assests that are available from TrainzProRoutes.

It's quicker to auto patch. To do this, make sure you've got your username and password entered in the Trainz Options box (click Options on the Launcher to get to this - once it appears, click the Planet Auran tab).

Once this appears, click the Patch Trainz button, then click Run Patcher when prompted. Make sure that the folder at the top matches your TS12 install folder, then click Apply Update. (then wait for it to say 'Patching Complete' or similar).

Did all that and got the game up-dated. The route shows up now and I downloaded 2 sessions for it but neither show up. Whats the deal? I know nothing about Trainz, I always played MSTS.

That may be due to the favourites system. If there's a yellow star at the top of the Routes screen, click it to turn the favourites feature off.

Its saying Im missing the route completly. The kuid matched that of the route but I have the route and able to play it but the sessions wont appear.

That would indicate a fault with the sessions, which would need to be checked in Content Manager. Do check that favourites thing though - it will also display a message with a link in it if it's active.

Also make sure that they aren't still open for edit in Content Manager. If they are they may not show up.

Another thing is that when you DL the route it will not pick up the session.
You must find the session that go with the route.
That why it's best to DL the session first, that will pick up the right route to go with that session.

There don't appear to be any sessions created for the Detroit Connecting Railroad route.

To the original poster --

PO&N is a large route. If you are more interested in smaller switching routes search the Download Station with "philskene" as the author. I find the easiest way to do a search is to go directory here rather than use Content Manager:

http://www.auran.com/TRS2004/DLS.php

You will find several of my routes. Most have sessions. Go for the TS12 ones. They are clearly marked.

All routes use only built-in or assets from the Download Station.

Most sessions use entirely built-in or DLS content. A few require external downloads. These have a link in the text under the thumbnail to the location where the external assets can be downloaded.

Now make sure you are patched to the latest version of Trainz, that you are have un-activated favourites, and that you have all the dependencies.

For a first timer capturing all the dependencies can be intimidating. My first post in this thread might help you with this:

http://forums.auran.com/trainz/show...ld-Hands-Only”-for-experienced-Engineers-only

I usually make a post in the Forums with a fuller description of the route and session than can be placed in the text under the thumbnail. One way of finding these posts is to go to "Advanced Search" at the top right of this page that you are now viewing, select "Search Single Content Type", under "User Name" enter philskene and select "Find threads started by user".

In many of the posts you will find a link to a youtube video that walks you through the session.

Tell us how you go. And welcome aboard.

Phil
