Suggestions for dream hardware please

One of my friends wants something to make his teenage sons eyes water so he can tell them they can't play on it its daddy's.

I'd thought a 1 Terrabyte Samsung EVO, some sort of i7, GTX 1080, 8 gigs memory? 1920 by 1080 monitor? I wondered about 4k but that needs more GPU to drive it.

I think daddy is going through a middle aged whatever and its cheaper than a sports car. There is a budget but I don't think its going to be blown. It probably won't be used for TANE.

Suggestions?

Thanks John

If he really wants to cause his son to melt into a puddle of piddle in the middle of the floor why limit himself to a laptop?

An Alienware Area-51 or Falcon Northwest Mach 5 can easily drive his son into an totally insane level of jealousy (and utterly nuke the family budget.:hehe:

On a more serious note both companies make very nice laptops.

Ha ha,
I've just built such a machine, and had the same conversation with my son, albeit he's not yet a teenager. In my case, TANE performance was a priority and I won't be doing any hardcore content creation; hence Skylake suited me fine. For what it's worth, here's what I ended up with:

Motherboard: Asus ROG Maximus VIII Hero alpha (z170 chipset)
Processor: Intel i7 6700K
RAM: 32 GB GSkill Tridentz 3000 MHz DDR4 (I'd recommend 16 gigs as a minimum for a high end build)
cpu cooler: Deepcool Captain 240 ex all-in-one.
Boot drive: Samsung 950 pro 512 GB (probably overkill but heh-ho)
Apps drive: Samsung 850 evo 1 TB (Tane data folder stored here)
Misc storage: Seagate 3TB HDD
GPU: Asus Strix gtx1080 O8G

PSU: Corsair RM850i

Monitor: Asus ROG PG279Q (2560 x 1440 at up to 165 Hz)

Here in Thailand, high-end parts are harder to source and consequently more expensive than in North America. It will be some time before my kids get to eat again, I fear.

This will not be a laptop.

Interesting certainly a basis to start from.
