Sugar Beet Cars

This steel gondola in the background is on my things to make list. I'll be happy to send it to you when it's finished. Another one will be the same gondola with another 6 ft of wood rails on each side to fit more beets.

Sorry this is the only pic for just a quick shot

You might want to try this one KUID2: 64038:15196:1

It has a couple of issues in 2010 but looks quite good.

I have the Pentrex video tape "Sugar Beet Trains" !

Unless your sugar package says Pure Cane Sugar ... it is made from Sugar Beets ... YUM ! :p (I learned his by watching Mr Rogers Neighborhod TV Show with my son yeras ago).:hehe:

In my sisters hometown in western Nebraska, the major industry is the sugar beet factory. One day a sugar dust exploson rocked the facility collapsing several concrete silos, creating a quake that broke many windows in town.

Just for info. There was a really nice sugar beet article in Railroad Model Craftsman last month.

This book is very informative and one of my early inspirations for how the north central Colorado railways interacted with the sugar beet industry.

Copies can be found on EBAY.
