Stupid boy riding outside subway car

While I was reading the newspaper, I got shocked to find out that a stupid boy was riding outside a subway car. He could have been killed! How did he hold on to the side of the subway car? He appeared to hold on to the upper door frame and his feet on the bottom of the door frame.

Really stupid. However I recall seeing a news item a good number of months ago of youths and boys doing this with trains in a city in Russia. In some incidents on thr roof.

It seems odd that train designers provide more handholds on the outside of the carriages than on the inside!

Some time ago, in the sixties, there were some lads who took a ride on the top of the cars on the #4 southbound Jerome Ave Line elevate, the ride must have been fine until the tracks went underground at 149th. What were they thinking?

Of course, in the US, his injury or death would result in a lawsuit, and then the requirement to place signs stating "Do not attempt to ride on the OUTSIDE of equipment, severe injury or death may result." every ten feet.
