Strange points / signal problem

Hi folks,

I am trying to sort a problemI have with AI trains running into Grimsby on the ECML (pre 44088 update)

I wan them to come in on the normal line right up to the overbridge to the west of the station. I then want them to cross over and run the wrong way to the "Grimsby Town" platform. The one on it's own.

Ok, so the problem seemed to be not enough signals at junctions.

I popped one in and now I have an even stranger problem - take a look.

Whats wrong with this picture?

Ok, now look at this one.

You can plainly see the junction in the foreground is set to the correct path for the train. The junction on the opposite side is set AGAINST the flow, yet the signal shows proceed.

In the second picture, the junction in the background is set correctly, yet the signal shows stop.

I have tried adding all manner of signals, tried re-laying the track and moved trackmarks, all to no avail.

Can someone maybe tell me where I am going wrong as it is really, really, REALLY annoying.

It'll be such a simple answer, I know, but I just can't see it.

Just to add, there are 2 feathers out of view under the bridge. A straight ahead, and a right hand diverge. Nothing works at all without them
There is also a direction marker facing TOWARD the station.

Aside from a UP locomotive running wild in the English countryside I couldn't see anything just from the pics...

Have you tried track direction markers? OR putting a trackmark and telling AI to drive via that trackmark...

Test drive your train through Junction 108877 and check that the lever is indicating the correct direction. The track and the crossover are curving in the same direction at this point.
This is the perfect setup for the "double crossed junction" problem, where the diverging track first goes ever so slightly to the left, and then to the right. This makes the junction indicate incorrectly.
To fix this create a very short straight section on the main line beyond the junction.

I had tried re-laying the track and switches, but may have ended up with the same problem without realising. The track direction marker is pointing away from the locomotive. I.e. from left to right across the crossover itself.

Between Grimsby and Barnetby, there is a couple of places where AI trains come to a stop and I discovered by hovering over the signals, "The Line Ahead Is Unsignalled", hence why the extra signals. The easiest way for me to test the problem signal afterward is to drop a loco infront of it. That UP is the default selection, hence why it's in the picture. :D

MrScsi, take a look at the signal infront of the loco, and follow the path across. The junctions are set against each other.

** EDIT **

I went at it again today and re-layed both tracks in the correct direction. I then added equal splin points so the that both tracks curved equally and added the crossover in. I have found, as others have suggested, to use at least 3 lengths of track for a crossover, with the piece in the middle being subject to the "straighten track" tool.

It's not perfect as I am not very good at the layout things but it works a treat. Thanks folks.
