Strange looking trees

I have just reinstalled 2019 and feel I should "move on" from TRS12 - I find the Route I am making is very light in contrast - have found some help on this point.
I would like some advice in regard to "strange looking trees" - they do not look natural - very flat and sectionised.

Thanks for any help in advance. Ron

Ron_Smith - congratulations on the move to TRS19 from TS12. A world of difference and so many new capabilities.
Regarding 2D trees/ billboards and grasses - suggest replace them a.s.a.p. with 3D SpeedTrees and TurfFX grasses and clutter. Any/All 2D flora look dreadful these days, no matter which way you look at them.
Some of the SpeedTrees built-in to TRS19 are very good - especially 'Roys_' trees. Also check out the DLS for 'st_rmm' SpeedTrees. RMM's trees are also very good.
I created a single board route and populated it with an example of every SpeedTree I have downloaded or which comes built-in to TRS19 and use this plantation as a gallery for choosing the right tree for any new route that I am building in Surveyor.
Took quite a while, but the investment in time creating that plantation has paid off handsomely ever since.

I have a concern when I look at the Screenshots forum for Bear Creek & South Jackson. It is a very nice looking route and he is doing great work with it, but the trees, while they look very detailed and realistic in the foreground, take on a flat, slate gray-green silhouette look in the background. This may just be the LOD for that particular tree asset, and may reflect what PC_Ace says about 2D assets, but keep an eye out for that as you work with trees...
