Stopping at Stations

Get over it
How do you stop a passenger train at a station so that more than 1 car is in front of the station? My trains stop just past the station and the same car seems to load and unload. Do you have to use a track mark? What does a trigger do and how do you instruct the trigger to do what you want? Wow, that's alot of questions.
I read the online manual and on page 57 it says to go somewhere else for more info on triggers so I figured I'd get a better explanation from the experts here on the forum. Thankz.

Hey Euphod, how's my signs coming along? I know you're going to read this. You're a forum junky.

I recommend you get the station kits from here. When setting up the station in the settings box, ensure that station type is set to "through". This way, the center of the train will stop at the station and not the first one or two cars.

Cheerio,
Nicholas.

Ghosty, I use mostly stations that come with tracks but I also use the MIN (Multiply Industry New). The only command I use is 'Drive To'. Hope this helps. I run 06.

I have this exact same problem. Using the 'Navigate To' / <station name> <platform> options, only the locomotive stops in the station. How do I change either the train or station settings to get round this? (As I am a 'newbie' to Trainz, I am using only default trains / stations.) Many thanks.

i have been using the andi06 ajs station kit as well as some with fixed track. one of the features that comes along in the dependicies of the ajs is a "call at" option, also i use the load option with the call at option and it loads several cars at the station at the same time. the ajs station kit allows you to adjust length of platform area that will be loaded and so on it also allows you to decide how long each train is inthe station area for. in game mode these items are invisible items you will need to position a platform of your choosing. the station properties can be adjusted buy goign throguht e "?" button in surveyor mode.
if you need any further help dont be afraid to drop me a line. just if i am a little slow to answer is i am having computer issues, dont worry i will answer.

cheers

All stations that are passenger enabled need the load command after drive to. The load command is what will start the station script to control the train and bring it into the station. The position the train stops at will be determined by the script. Ive got one station which is scripted to stop short trains between the start and middle of the platform while longer trans will stop at the end of the platform.

yes, simply its a matter of a lack of commands.... you've told the driver to move to the station, so he does; but you need to add the load/ unload command, so that the AI knows to position its self for a transfer of commodities (ie the passengers on the platform)

Nick, my fault. I didn't explain myself very well. After the drive to command I then used the load/unload command. What I'm trying to get the consist to do is stop so that 2 or 3 cars are at the station and not just one. I really don't want to have to change out all my stations with the station kit that was suggested. On one route alone I have 13 stations and I run the Gilby and Wallace route a lot also and that has many stations. I guess I'll be happy with what I have. Thanks to all for responding.

You are not using passenger track but min track which works in a different way. Only the passenger track is scripted to move the consist fully into the track for loading min does a set length at a time. Also the length of the track will effect the number of coaches that will work as each wagon needs to be on the active track.

I have been messing around with setting up passenger service AI on the Murchessen 2 setup. Is "thorugh" a part of teh station kits or can I do that for all stations?

I'd like to make a Murch2 session that I can upload to the DLS but I don;t want to have to change the route at all.

Hi bulpulp,

To upload a Murchison 2 session you will have to leave the layout exactly as you got it. Since it is payware you can't upload the route. You can change and develop the route for your own use but uploading to the DLS is a no no.

Ah. You know, I knew that. I knew i didn't want to add the stations to Murch 2 and upload it for that very reason. But somehow it hadn't clicked that changing the stations to "through" would be doing the same thing.

Regardless, the "load" command fixed what I was doing so I am back on track.
