Steampunk engines

Has anyone ever bothed reading my post frankly I'm getting sick and tired of being bushed aside and ignored! stat replaying to my posts is it too hard to ask for a bit of kindness ppl don't preheated how hard I've worked on some of these dam things its not easy to come up with custom models out of thin air.

Now if someone could make these locomotives, crews and the layout ... (best watched full screen and in HD):

@Dragonharh

Since you're practically demanding attention, I will do my best to give you some.

First, know that parts of this community value your work and effort, since that is what you seem to be looking for.

Second, this is a community, and nobody is ever bound to respond to your posts anymore then you are bound to respond to anyone elses (Can you imagine if a GM or Moderator PMd you and said "You will be banned from this board if you don't respond to EVERY post this Other Person Says!"?). It can be disappointing and frustrating to not get the attention or recognition you expect from a post you make, but this is the nature of Forums. You can certainly choose to not be a part of any forum at any time for whatever reason you wish, though I think there would be people that would miss you here if you left.

That all said, instead of directly trying to shove into a discussion in an apparent attempt to fulfill whatever need you're feeling at the time, why not try to join in the discussion? You seem to like the idea of Steam Punk enough to have made some models themed along those lines yes? So instead of throwing them at a discussion labeled "Steam Punk" and expecting some kind of gratuitous response, why not join the discussion and ask if anyone would be interested in seeing or using them? Or perhaps share your experiences with making them? Did you encounter any problems? Were they easy to make (Im guessing not, but I don't know as I've never made a Steam Punk Trainz Model)? I think you'll get alot more positive interaction back if you attempted a little give and take with discussions like these instead of just throwing your work into the middle and being unhappy when few if anyone responds.

I truly hope this addresses at least some of what you were looking,

@Dragonharh

Would it be possible for you to invent a series of steampunk road traffic? You are a proven creator in Trainz and I still use the wooden reefers you make a number of years ago. What I would like to see is a steampunk region made where the traffic on the road would be smoke belching, steam hissing cars and trucks.

Something else that springs to mind when you speak of steampunk are Zeppelins! Trainz could use some really large Hindenburg like zeppelins making there way across the sky. I know of a few other route builders that would love to have these leviathans on their routes
;).

phil i actually have seen that video and i agree it would be amazing to make. however making it so the train can use the jumps would be the hard part. unles we have evolved on crash physics

That's about as SciFi as a coal-powered jet engine! Shiny!

I would love to hear what this thing sounded like.

That's a wicked looking locomotive, isn't it?

Its constant exhaust sounds probably caused the chickens to stop laying eggs and the cow to give sour milk along its route! ;)

That video gives me some good ideas for steamers racing types wouldn't be too hard to do how ever I could always make a hyper steam loco with a custom look and give it a bad ass look lol.
Zeppelins would be a good one I tempted to make one 9 feet long ones but it got destroyed by some kid I already made a few punked DPR diesel and super size one that can pull insane loads I'll have to get working on a model soon and combine some ideas.

which one Shirako? Your link took me to a page with a bunch of photos of which you could have intended any to be the destination. Try Right Clicking on the pic, selecting "Copy Image Location", then insert it here in the forum using the Insert Pic command in the New Post Window (Little picture of a tree 3rd Icon from the right, at least in the Quick Reply box anyway).

I just happen to come across this thread today and found it to be an interesting discussion. I'm a Steampunk fan myself, but the one issue I have with it is that all too often the focus is how many gears, bells, and whistles can be put on something than actually putting thought into a Steampunk Machines' design. I haven't mad many drawings for such machines, but I've made a few and offer them as inspiration for Trainz content. Under the stipulation that credit is given.

For a steampunk design contest I came up with a steam powered "Semi-Truck", minus the trailer. Here's the drawing I submitted and won first place. (The prize was more or less bragging rights, but it was all in good fun anyway!)

In retrospect there are some flaws in the design, namely there is NO brake system. I realized this after the fact, but a typical locomotive air brake system could be used with a simple 6 or 9 inch diameter Westinghouse Air Pump/Compressor like on early steam locomotives and narrow gauge engines. Or an even simpler system like Vacuum brakes, which may be better suited for such a machine that would only haul one or two trailers/wagons at a time.

Here is a more recent locomotive I designed for a book I'm considering writing. (with the theme of being a Steampunk Spaghetti Western) It's a 4-6-2 Pacific type and although is based on prototypical design, it's still an entirely freelanced locomotive. It's also intended to operate on 5ft 3in "Irish" gauge rather than standard, but it could be a standard gauge locomotive. Albeit a LARGE SG locomotive.

I've been meaning to make a cab profile, a drawing of the cab interior setup. To help along with the steampunk "feel" I wanted to have the engine have dual fire doors on the backhead, not to mention LOTS of brass trim, fittings, and copper piping. And probably an overhead throttle assembly like what is often used on Bershire engines and similar locomotives. I'm planning a whole slew of similar locomotives, a 4-8-2 of similar appearance is next on my list as well as a 2-8-4. As mentioned above I look more at practicality that bells and whistles.

However since the topic has mentioned this "Demon Train" several times, here is a pitch that I think would make a fun and unique Trainz model. Anyone here familiar with the game "Darkwatch"? It was a total flop, but the concept and theme behind it was great! Vampires and Zombies in the Old West!! Thay had their own private train, heavily armored and rather intimidating. But a Trainz model of said locomotive would be nice, and in terms of "Video Game Trains" this one is rather tastefully and believably done!

It's a bit odd as it is a 6-4-0, but it does make some practical sense with all the armor and that bladed pilot jutting out of the front. The brightness headlight also is plausible. The PRR experimented with "Lime Lights" on their locomotives. I don't know many details, but the goal was to give the engineer better visibility during night time running. And the Lime Lights worked... all too well. In fact the reason they stopped using them was that the crews of trains approaching form the opposite direction were often blinded by the brightness of the Lime Light headlamps. Just something to think about, food for thought with steampunk tech.

Anyway, the game, despite being a total failure, is still a great concept and I believe should be revamped. (No Pun Intended...) But it had inspired me to do some fan art and here is another locomotive with the "Darkwatch" styling applied to it. It's also a Cab-Forward design which is steampunk enough all its own.

The overall design is inspired by the North Pacific Coast RR's #21, a 3ft narrow gauge 4-4-0 with an experimental boiler which necessitated the cab forward design. A Photo of the actual engine is below. And again, is steampunk enough all its own.

So gentlemen, hopefully this may inspire you. I to would like to see more Steampunk content for Trainz. It just makes the game all the more fun!

@kegg that pacific looks very 1860's ish which looks fantastic and love the first cab forward. as for NP#21 i believe klinger was making it at one point unlessi am mistaken. also the Jules Verne Time Train or as many of you know it the time train in Back to the future also seems to be a steampunk design as well.

Jules Vern had a style that was unique to his creative works and has influenced Victorian Steampunk Styling quite a bit. I have to admit I like the Jules Vern/BTTF train myself because of how outlandish it is!

For for my Pacific, I was aiming more towards an 1870s/80s feel, but I do see how it could be 1860s. With the large Central Pacific style slide valves and all. I have to admit the inspiration for the valve gear came from the narrow gauge Mason Bogies. Fine engines they are and too bad only one has survived today. The 4-6-2 I've thought about taking another crack at drawing, as the drivers look a little small for a passenger locomotive. Although the current design would do well for mixed traffic. The 4-8-2 I want to design I'm drawing the overall proportions from Frisco 1522, but like the 4-6-2 it will have a back-dated appearance and have a wood cab, box headlamp, slide valves, dual fire doors, and many other features to pull of an old time/steampunk feel and appearance.

If I could I would love to build content for Trainz, I just don't have the expertise to do so. The best I could do would probably be to commission someone to build them and skin them.
