Statue of Liberty

jadebullet

might be back?
Just wondering, does anyone know if anyone has made the Statue of Liberty for Trainz? I need one for the route that I am working on.

I was wondering when some one would model NYC in it's entirety. In reality, if you are close enough to see the her, it's gotta be interesting.

With all the DmDrake-Bronx-building prefab blocks, it would be easy to quickly populate the route with skycsrapers and such. (Oak Island Yard, Freightcar Ferries, Tunnels, Suspended Cable Car, Heliport ... )

There are some layouts by "NYOW2000" kuid id 57447. They are for "Trainz Service Pack 3" but worth a look.

If I eventually model NYC, it will be in the 1930s. As of right now though, I am freelance modeling the Jersey side of things.

There is a "Chrysler Building" (search under title) by Kilanziom.

Also, do a search using "wiezowce" (search under title) and there are some other NY City buildings... also by Kilanziom.

Also searched and found a couple of them (3d models) on TurboSquid but they cost $8-$12 ...

Another is on Lucky CG World ... (maybe free?) But it looks like a copy of the Turbosquid one! I think it is max format.. Good luck!

I remember seeing POTA for the first time and asking myself " Hmm.....that could never REALLY happen........could it?"

Hi jadebullet,

do you think of something like:
Backdrop_Statue_of_Liberty_2D.jpg

BUT: This is only a 2D-backdrop as cascaderailroad suggested - no way to circle around, only usable for backgrounds.
It is easy to produce such backdrops with my "do-it-yourself-backdrop" - click below.

If you want it to check whether it is usable for you: send me a mail and I will send you the CDP-file. I think it is not appropriate for the DLS.

Yeah, nothing 2D is appropriate for the DLS, you'll be lucky if you aren't publicly castigated just for making it!

I think it's a fine job...now can you make a 'Clover field' version as well?:hehe:

2D items can be helpful, if you use them appropriately. Have a look to http://www.ttbwrr.com/TTBWRR-Background_Tutorial-1.htm
David Drake ("dmdrake" for search on DLS) demonstrates a technique to easily multiply the visual effect of cities or forests near the edge of the baseboard by using 2D-items.
You even can circle with a ship the 2D Miss Liberty or lay a track through the 2D cities WHEN YOU AVOID that the camera looks "behind" the 2D item.
