Spring switches?

Does anyone know if there are any spring switches on the DLS? I've searched in English, but haven't a clue for other languages.

For those who don't know, a spring switch is one that will force you one direction (straight, left, or right) without having to throw a lever if you approach from one direction. Approaching from the trailing point direction, your consist will go through the switch without tearing it up since it will 'give' as you pass through it.

I realize that I can make one by creating a normal switch, setting it the way I want it, and then removing the throw mechanism, but I've found that there is rolling stock that will derail when a switch is set against them.

There are some tram triggers that set up the switch to go a set way when you hit them

Look up as_Left_pr, as_right_pr, as well as as_left and as_right by kemal. They should do what you want.

Interesting devices. I have no idea what they do, however, as the scripting choices (menus under the "?") are all done in Cyrillic. Maybe I can find a route that uses them and puzzle out how they work.

Meanwhile, I'm still looking.

All switches in trainz are spring switches, if you run through them it forces it's way through the points

I have had instances (I don't remember if it was TS12/10/09/06/04) where certain pieces of rolling stock and motive power refused to run through a switch's trailing points (set against travel) without derailing. Maybe I can find an example.

I have a feeling it is related to the angle of the switch. You have an alternative. Packed with the DHR is a neat little script by Andy06 that will automatically set the switch to meet the oncoming train. Look how this works on the switchbacks.

You are right, Peter. I did forget the switchbacks on the DHR. I'll have a look. For the most part, I just need a few switches that will, for instance, force an 'always go right' onto one side of a section of double track from one direction. Coming the other way, an 'always go right' will put a consist on the opposite section of double track. What bothered me was the exit back to the single track at both ends. Some stock would derail unless the switch was thrown to accommodate the direction of travel.

sort of this way:

Code:
                     Y
            /=====================\
A  ========+                      +============ B
            \=====================/
                     Z
Travel always runs A -> Z -> B and B -> Y -> A

Using the script as basis, perhaps you can introduce a 'reset to normal direction' once the script senses the passage of the last car.

I'm kind of weak on scripting but I might give that a try, Peter. I'll have to build a small test route and mess with it.
