Trying to get a true looking cliff. The splines are 10m each. is there a way to add splines or change the settings to 2 or 4m. Working with TR9.

Thanks;)

Already Found the answer. Acording to WIKI, it can not be done, and vertical clifts or overhangs can not be done as well.
Next step, Find a way to texture it to look real. Onw way or another, wooop.

You appear to be talking about the baseboard grid. They are 10m squares in trainz, Recent versions have included the possibility to reduce this to 5m one baseboard at a time.

There are real spline objects that are shaped like cliffs. They are placed as needed to provide a vertical surface. The baseboard grid junctions are always the same distance apart, just their vertical displacement can be changed so a true vertical cliff is not possible without using scenery objects.

Your a genius man,

I was about at the end of my rope.

Lets see if I get this right. If I need a virtical rock formation that is, say 45m, I would creat it in 3D, texture as needed, load it as a scenery asset and blent it into the cliff as a scenery object.

Sound about right?

It would take a long time to create a 955 ft cliff. But is could be done, Right?

now the question would be, can items be stacked in Trainz, Like crates or would the entire cliff need to be modeled?

I could cut this by adding a cliff, sloping back and up with the grid, creat a plateau and then add another cliff.

Hmm. It may work. Atleast thosway I could create needed overhangs as well.

I'm going right now to find out if this will work.

Thanks.

Yes, items can be stacked in trainz. It 's done all the time to create variations on standard objects like buildings. The only issue is that a tag in the object's config file can be used to limit the vertical range.

As for the 291m high cliff, it could be created as a single spline. If the spline extends below ground, say 300m, as you raise it, revealing more and more of it until just the right amount is visible, you would have your vertical cliff. You could even create it with an overhang if you so desire. Be aware that your drawing distance settings might have some influence on you ability to se the whole thing at once.
