Hi.
My question is if the makers knew of all these bugs, then why release it in the first place and give us all more headaches trying to fix it. I'll stick to 49922 thank you and if these bugs cant be fixed I have file 13 the put this in and revert back to old faithfull TS 2010EE.

The "makers" have been beta testing in preparation for release for 6 months and fixing bugs as they have been identified. The "audience" have been patiently waiting for the update. There are many thousands of people who have patched successfully and a handful who are having problems. Forums are great at highlighting the problems, but do not show any evidence of all the happy customers utilizing the updated features.

Multi-billion dollar corporations also release software and hotfix their patches, and our small team are no different. We felt that the balance between benefits and problems is well in favour of the customer, so it was time to release.

Of course it is fine to wait as well. Next week, there will be less problems once we release the hotfix. At this stage there is nothing identified that is sufficiently serious that requires us to remove the patch from distribution.

The makers haven't even fixed the bugs. Looks as if they've introduced a whole lot more. One good thing though, they have made it quite clear how they intend to proceed in the future with locked content, so I will not make the mistake of buying TS14. One of them says its not to court DRM, it's just a "side effect", another says its to reduce piracy. They can't even agree on that. All that I am aware of is that where once I could happily load my purchased content into TS12, now am I am unable to do so because they have fixed the bugs. Go figure!

Someone recently said that TS12 was a missed opportunity to compete with the other sims. He was spot on. You are not alone, my friend, my copy is in the bin now too.

Every one of these threads I see spout the same thing. I have DLC content. I also have self made routes. And I have older content from the DLS. I can use all of the content I have bought (yes I am patched with SP1) I have been able to not only open the content in surveyor. I have also modified it. Yes you have to re download it in game. As long as you register your content with auran I have seen no problems getting it. I also have not seen many in game problems apart from the coupler issue and missing thumb nails in older and some newer content.

Hi Geoff. While it is great that everyone can have their say, I can't agree with your comments and would like to ask you to explain your reasoning further.

If you go by pure numbers here, there are well over 1,000 tasks (including bugs) that have been addressed in SP1 and it appears a handful of unresolved issues have been identified. Some of these existed pre-SP1 and weren't caused by the update, and some of these are in fact new. There are also of course other known but unresolved issues and there always will be in a project of this magnitude.

One good thing though, they have made it quite clear how they intend to proceed in the future with locked content, so I will not make the mistake of buying TS14.
I don't quite understand your comment about "courting DRM" or whether your fears relate to freeware vs payware or something else. Please point me in the direction where we make any comment or have introduced any system that takes away the opportunities for freeware to exist and thrive in the future. I would also like to know why you think it is not effective for a company to protect payware items from piracy via DRM.

once I could happily load my purchased content into TS12, now am I am unable to do so
This sounds like a bug. Previously purchased items should be reinstallable. If not, please submit a ticket to helpdesk explaining what content have you purchased, and what errors are occurring in order that you cannot load it.

The last comment is so broad it is impossible to answer.

I would like to re-iterate that our overall objective as a company is to make a profit. To do that, we need customers willing to pay for our products. Creating systems that provide easy access to content in theory provides for better opportunities for our customers to access content they want to utilize. The App Store has shown that with the right sort of marketplace, products can be delivered digitally for a fraction of the cost of previous markets. It's a whole different discussion about the Android marketplace which currently does a far poorer job of preventing piracy of that digital content.

I've got a question for you Tony (or anyone else at N3V who can answer it). Is DLC content bought from a third-party source (for example Amazon, or in the case of Murchinson, sirgibby's Trainzone site) still usable even though it's not through Simulator Central?

Hi.
I fully agree with you, it's no longer worth forking out for a new Simulator if they can't fix this one.
This is one of the main reasons I gave my brand new copy of TS2013 (Rail****s) away to my son as he's tec minded in computor terms and files like ACE etc is beyond me when you have to start to pull locos apart to make them tick.
When you think about were doing it now if we ask for help, I'm struggling on this CP gondla at the moment as this a non runner, you can't delete it becacuse its built in item, but were expected to fix this ourselfs.
Best of luck with the bugs, I'll wait and see what they get up to before I get rid of it.
PO45080. TS12. 49922.

I think you're talking about two comments by me, not two different people. And you're paraphrasing my comments incorrectly. I suggest you go back and read my comments again if you're getting things that badly confused. If you still don't understand, then feel free to reply to my comments in that thread.

kind regards,

chris

Yup, they've busted it for us TS10 users too.

That CP gondla is by me and a fixed one is on the DLS but will only work in TS12 at this time, I used a bogey that is built in to TS12 but not TS10. It may be added to the DLS.

Talking about that one, after the update it shows a missing unknown dependency not on the DLS in TS12. Will that become available later?
From what I could see it's the bogey and it doesn't seem to be buildin, at least not with the kuidnumber supplied.

Hi Geoff. While it is great that everyone can have their say, I can't agree with your comments and would like to ask you to explain your reasoning further.

Hello Tony
I purchased from your company a product TS12. I have never used it and believe it was unfit for purpose. I raised issues on these forums, and, like others at the time, did not complain, but believing the issue had been brought to your attention (and still believe this), patiently waited almost two years, let me repeat that, almost two years for your company to address the issue in a service pack.

The service pack that your company has published, not only did not address the issues that I had, but unfortunately brought with it more. It crashed my computer attempting to download assets I already had. On a second attempt I had to cancel all the downloads except one, allow it to install and then repeat the process. Yes, I later found that I could have opted not to download, but no mention was made of that.

So, you see sir, I also think, that your service pack is also unfit for purpose.

As for the installation of my addons, I was meaning via the ja files. OK, your company has decided to change policy on downloaded content, and of course, you are quite within your rights to do so. But I purchased from you a product that allowed me to install content via ja files and a serial number, and allowed me to clone and mod that content as much as l wished. Your company changed that product by means of a service pack to stop me doing that. I don't want your DRM version sir, I want TS12 as you sold it to be without the bugs.

I hope that now you follow my reasoning.

@chis
Sarcasm is the lowest form of wit. I referred to one comment you made and another that Tony made, quite at odds with one another. I believe you made your second comment after my post. On these forums I have vented my feelings, perhaps out of anger and frustration, about a product I feel is unfit for purpose and a service pack that is more so. I have offered advice, and appealed to you to try and see things my way, but I have never attacked you personally. You seem to be making habit of attacking people here, perhaps the strength of feeling on this issue is causing you stress. Anyway, rest assured sir, I am not confused enough to go out and buy the next version of Trainz.

Kind regards to you both
Geoff
