Sorry - Basic beginner question.

I need info to get me started. I've built a few routes, and I think the most recent is probably good enough to upload.
I wd now like to move on to creating other content starting with buildings, bridges and other trackside objects. Where do I start? I've made uploadable content for other games, and usually it's just a case of getting an inroad to begin the basics, but I can't seem to find that for Trainz.

Even more basic question: How do I know when a train is an AI train?

thx for any help you guys can offer JD

btw I'm working with a version called 2010EE

You need a 3D modelling program. One that I recommend is Blender.

There are lots of tutorials that can get you started, and a search on these forums will turn up a lot of websites that have tutorials.

Hope this helps!

. . . Even more basic question: How do I know when a train is an AI train? . . .

An AI train is one that runs strictly with driver commands and does not require you the player to drive it. Driver commands can be entered in Surveyor using several different rules. If your AI train is emitted by a portal, I recommend pguy's QuickPortalManagerV2 or V3. You can schedule AI trains compete with driver commands that make the train an AI train.

Some have suggested that AI = Auran Incompetence, but if properly programmed with the correct Driver Commands, I have yet failed to get an AI train to do what I expect it to do.

thx Dap. I've got it and it's workin well. Need to get to grips with portals next. ??? Is there no end to this Trainz thing ???

Joe,

It gets even better and more complex. For example, my CMTM car destination system. Now every freight car that is emitted from a portal can have a series of destinations which are displayed on the screen. There is a hump yard asset that allows you to model very realistic yard ops . . . and more and more stuff . . . I'd say there is a great adventure awaiting you in Trainz :)

Sorry to say this Joe but you have started close to the bottom of the totem pole with this game, your game dose not have a lot of the new things that the later trainz games do. Those your game will give you a lot of fun but as for seeing your trains load & unload coal and wood chips like they do in the later games.

Trs2004 or TRS2006 those not supported by Auran anymore are still good game to have & the community will help you with any questions you have.

BTW welcome to trainz & forget about your family and friends
