SOO GP9 #2555 Help

I'm trying to find out how many cooling fan blades this GP9 had. From what I can tell from photos and blueprints it seem they have between 14 and 16 blades.

If someone could tell me how many they have it would be a great help and any images of the roof would be appreciated also.

Cheers Chris

Edit : Just having a close look it might be 12 blades?

Does that particular GP9 have a different, special kind of fan? Or does it have the same fan as any other, or... ? Just asking, it's not like I know any specific details about US trains anyway.

This is the Blueprint I'm using Tiger313.

Tried to find images from Google but really didn't know what type of GP9 I'm looking for since every RR Company had their own variations of the same engine.

Searching GP9's with Google gave me fan sizes but not blade count and what cooling fan images I came across just didn't look right right and that's just frustrating since I'd to produce a realistic copy of the GP9.

Cheers Chris

Thanks for the link Dave, but it says 8, 9 or 12 blade fans so which is mine? By looking at the blueprint it seems to be a 12 blade version so I'll model that one unless someone can tell me differently.

Chris,

It appears that the blades were able to be set up however the mechanics thought was good for them ! 8 , 9 ,12 , blades , whatever the 'Top Dog' thought was good ? Can't see how you can go wrong , there appears to be no 'set in stone' configuration . They could be bolted / unbolted , who's to know ? I am certainly not going to report your creation as non-prototypical !

Carry on --- ,dave

I'm a like perfectionist Dave so I'd like to get it close a possible to the original. I just want anything I create to be true to satisfy my needs as a modeler.
