SOMETHING STRANGE

Something quite strange has happened.

The screenshot shows the spline joining rings from Maddy's Yarn objects and splines. They are sitting in that void despite having tried a lot of things to delete them.

STRANGE-1.jpg

It is in TRS2006. I'm using XP. My specs are Ok for TS2010.

I have had trouble for some time with this route.

A while ago when I used the undo button it coursed one or more splines to charge off into the distance and attach themselves to something (several base boards away). I put this down to a faulty object. I did some revision at one time and the problem went away.

At the moment I am relocating a freeway junction (using YARN) components including the flyover junction objects and splines.

The original (which has been there for over 18 months) is 2 baseboards over and I have been copying it.

Maddy's splines have to be attached a specific way. When using undo to start again - the problem of splines racing off into the distance started again.
The runaway spline actually attached to the origianlly installed junction object.

I couldn't delete the probelm splines - so I closed the program without saving - and came back. They were gone

Not long after when attaching a spline the program "fatalled".

When I re-opened the splines were still there but detatched.

I could not move them, or delete them in spline mode.
I could delete them in object mode - but the rings remained.

I closed the program without saving - reopened and found the same position.

I ended up deleting the base board I was working on - but that didn't delete the problem.

The I deleted all of the Yarn titles from my folder.
Interestingly a number of intersection objects won't delete (inbuilt?)

Then back into the route -the rings remained (including the rings of all the other YARN splines I used in the route).

That's when I thought it was time to share my grief and ask for help.

Have you had this type of problem?
Could you help with a fix?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.
Cheers

Have had this problem with other objects that have been moved. What I did was delete the object then attach the spline to the left over spline point and then delete.

nicke,

The spline circles are leftovers of invisible roads. This is why they're difficult to delete. Stagecoach has a good idea for removing them. In the past when I've had leftover pieces of roads sitting off in space after deleting baseboards, I've added in a blank baseboard to sit on so I can delete the bits left all over the place.

When I've finished cleaning up, I then delete the blank board.

I would suggest backing up your route and any session regularly, and in particular if you are having weird problems like this just in case something nasty goes your way.

Good luck.

Thanks everyone for your comments.
Stagecoach's suggestion worked - and I'm back on track. (thanks for the suggestion).

It's funny - my route is split into three files.
It's only this one file that is causing me grief.
This is the second file - not the one with the screenshots I've been featuring in the Aussie screenshots thread.

There is something I've installed that is not right - and is making life difficult.
Moving about sometimes is a real pain, and on occasions driving a train really effects the frame rates - but other times it's OK.

Hoepfully when I migrate to 2010 I will be alerted to the problem and make it go away.

Again thanks for the help.
Happy Trainzing.
Cheers
Nick
