something interesting on the d&rgw

skol587

hey all I'm back
i was watching a video and it showed the round house and it was full of the k type locomotives and i saw some thing out of the ordinary a 36in gp9

The D&RGW had only one 36 inch gauge diesel, #50 (they did borrow two Army ones for a while in the '50s). The GP9 you saw was one of their standard gauge machines.

Cheers,
Ben

was 50 located at alamosa (not sure if i spelt it rite)
because it was parked on a garden track ill try to set a screen shot of the video i saw.

buy the was i love the uintah locomotives you made, do you plan on making any more uintah stuff.

50 was based in Durango. In later years Alamosa was one of the few (I want to say 3) meeting points of Standard and Narrow gauge on the D&RGW. That is most definately a standard gauge GP9, possibly assigned to the Creede branch.
Alamosa's joining of Std. and NG makes for some interesting photos.

3000 was one of two 3ft gauge diesels the D&RGW borrowed from the Army. (the other was 2700N, IIRC)

My arch-nemesis, a Phase I GE 44 tonner. It is shuffling a few 3000 series boxcars.

Haha, all those pictures look like something from a toy train show, with S scale trains right beside O scale trains :p
