Some signal questions

I downloaded Justin Michael Roth's signals, when I try and program them and then save the game, then go back to it, the signals reset to the default settings. How can I fix this so they stay the way that I want them to. I noticed the SA SL searchlights do this too.

With the Jointed Rail Mojave Sub signals, is there any way to create any left handed dwarf signals? I think every right handed signal should have a left-handed counterpart, i.e. signals that go on the left hand side of the track(s).

With the Jointed Rail searchlights and smart signal color lights, (which are available on the download station as well), I think there should be an option to have swiveling signal heads for curves and such, in the menu that pops up when you hit the ? feature, I would like to have an option between route and speed signal indications, horizontal and vertical number plates, black and white, and the permissive signals (ones with number plates), Is there a way to make them not be all red? On a single track line, the block signals between sidings, I would like to lay a signal when it's red, then lay the next red one the first one would then go yellow, then flashing yellow and then green, the interlockings can stay red, but I would like to have a tumble down effect. I usually space my signals out between either three blocks or four blocks between sidings. So I would like to see it be like this Green-Flashing Yellow-Yellow and then Red. That way I don't have to approach light them. I like keeping my signals on. Also, do that with the Mojave sub block/permissive signals as well.

Thanks

I don't know anything about Justin's signals but as for the rest I can help.

The dwarf signals, clone the signal you want to have a left hand version of then edit the cone's config.txt file in notepad. look for a tag "trackside" if the value in the trackside tag is 2.5 change it to -2.5 save the change and submit the edit.

The Jointed Rail signals can't be rotated with the rotate tool in the signals tab, rather it will change the direction the signal is facing. To achieve the effect you want you will have to change the position of the signal i.e. earlier or later on the curve.

What about changing the permissive signal colors?

This is done within the script that the signal uses.

When I use them, and like you I use them a lot between absolute signals and approach signals, they do change color. With Jointed Rail Searchlights for example, the Type05 permissive signals will change from red to green to flashing yellow, to yellow, on approach to a red.

As far as no light up on the signals until in use, this too is a script addition called approach-lit and I'm not sure if it was ever implemented. I remember somewhere there was talk about it but I've never seen it in use. The end result is signals that remain red.

I hope this answers at least some of your question.

Approach lighting is script dependant. Some JR signals have an option to change in surveyor, if not you have to edit the signal in CMP and add "is approach lit 1". Steve, you'll need to find rrsignals thread titled supersignals or similar in the freeware forum to ask him about the script not saving configurations.

Script configurations don't save in the route; they save in the session only. That's true of all scripted assets. The only thing that saves in the route itself are object names, and even then, only names entered in the top line of the properties editor.

The Green->fYellow->Yellow->Red sequence you are referring to is called 3-block signalling, and my signals support that both on normal (straight) and reversed/turnout routes, although you'll only see that sequence for the normal route.

So I think what you need to do when editing in surveyor is what I do. Go to the route, and then sessions and then edit session. Once you are in surveyor unlock the route layer and edit what you have to. Then save over route and session. I remember at some point reading and experiencing that launching surveyor from "edit route" messes things up. The signals will automatically store config in session layer...once in surveyor I switch to route layer and only place trains on the session layer.
